Pages Word Count

nice little feature...

Pages Word Count Inspector I had to fill in an online form consisting of separate sections, and each section is suppose to be no more than 250-300 words.

I have been using Pages to create the content, as it allows me time to create, edit and reflect on the content rather than try and fill in the online form in one go!

Rather than create lots of separate documents I have created a single document with separate sections.

What I was doing then was copying and pasting the sections into a new document and using the Pages inspector to view the word count.

Now in Pages 2 (part of iWork '06) and in Word, the word count is for the whole document, which is why I had two documents open, one for the editing and one for the word count.

I am currently using Pages 3, as I selected the text for copying I noticed that the word count was changing in the inspector as I selected the text.

So in Pages 3 (in iWork '08) you can select some text and it is possible now to have a word count "on the fly".

This is a really nice feature, and makes working on a document with word count limits on sections much easier to manage than before.

Excellent.
