Web 2.0 is so young

many of the major sites are just puppies really...

Wikis

History of Wikipedia

Don't know how accurate that is... ;-)

Wikis go back to the 1980s if you believe this article... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki

Blogging

Of course this is a blog, but how long have we been blogging...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog

This blog was started in April 2004 (really that long ago) but blogs feel like they have been here ages.

YouTube

YouTube was founded in early 2005 so hasn't been around very long at all.

Podcasting

Though audio files have been available on the internet, a podcast is only really a podcast if it is
wrapped in an RSS feed.

iTunes was really the lever which made podcasts (netcasts?) mainstream which was May 2005.

RSS

RSS has made a lot of this Web 2.0 stuff really work much more easily, as your feeds can feed into your browser rather than having to browse a lot of sites and find out that you've read them before.

MySpace

MySpace started in 2003

As for MySpace, before that wasn't there Friendster?

Digg

Digg is relatively new and only really became big with the Paris Hilton Sidekick story.

There are other Web 2.0 sites out there, what ones do you use, post in the comments.
