Airport Extreme 802.11n with Gigabit Ethernet - I got one!

will be able to update my pages better...

When the new Airport 802.11n Airport Extreme came out I said...

Will I get one, not sure as I don't think I can use all the functionality because of the location of my DSL connection.

I knew that I would quite like to use one near my television so that I could stream video wirelessly from my iMac to my EyeHome device (and potentially a Mac mini or an Apple TV) but the 100 Mb speed of the ethernet ports put me off, I really wanted Gigabit ethernet to make best use of the 802.11n speeds. Also for the future if I decided to move my DSL connection so that I could make best use of the ethernet ports for local network traffic.

At the recent Apple event they announced a new 802.11n Airport Extreme base station now with Gigabit ethernet, so when I was at an Apple store recently I purchased one. It's still in the shrink wrap, but I will get it out sooner rather than later.

I will be able then to do some more printer and hard drive testing.
