The Cloud Wifi

at the British Library it was fine, at Paddington it was unbearably slow...

The Cloud Today I was in London for a meeting, and following it (been at the British Library and having a few hours before my train) I decided to take advantage of the wireless network, alas it wasn't free, but was a The Cloud wireless hotspot.

Apart from been unable to FTP from Dreamweaver it was fine. I could surf the web, send e-mail and I could even publish my blog via iBlog and my .mac account.

When I arrived at Paddington I had some more time to pass by before my train left, I decided to purchase a 30 minute pass. Well that was a mistake, as the connection was dead slow, unbearably slow. I did close down and restart my browser, I tried both Safari and Firefox with the same slow results.

I felt cheated. I did send support an e-mail, but even if they do decided to refund me my £2.99 I will now be wary of using their wireless service in future.

I do find that even though I rarely use wireless hotspots I have had major problems with quite a few including The Cloud, BT Openzone and T-Mobile. Often I will pay up and find that the connection is dire and unusable.
