BTOpenzone, Vodafone 3G Datacard and wireless access...

works...

One thing that in theory you can do with a 3G Datacard is to join and use a wireless hotspot such as BT Openzone.

However though the Windows Vodafone software has the option, there is no option with the Mac version. Though I did read that it was possible to still connect and without the card.

This morning I managed to do just that using my Apple PowerBook on a BT Openzone wireless hotspot. It did not let me login in the first time, but did the second.

Not recommended to do too often as it is quite expensive, but if you are on a lower tariff for your 3G card it can be cheaper than using the 3G card for extended internet access, something you may need if at an Airport or a railway station.
