3G Connection


very poor in Birmingham in the ICC…

When you need a 3G connection it is really frustrating to have a very poor connection, so poor that I would often lose even a GPRS connection.

I was at a conference in Birmingham today and though I had some decent GPRS coverage, in some of the break out rooms I failed to get a connection and when I did it was very flakey.

It doesn’t help that there is also very little connectivity on the train route from Bristol to Birmingham (compared to say Bristol to London).

I don’t know if it was the location or problems with the Vodafone network but it was annoying.

Update

Looking like issues with the GPRS network, just passed through Cheltenham and got a 3G connection and had full connectivity, however having left Cheltenham, it reverted back to GPRS and the connection flunked out.
