Video Conversion Tool for PocketPC

useful for other devices as well...

Following an article in PCW Magazine I have been using an excellent encoder and player to convert video for use on the PocketPC.

I am using PocketDivXEncoder.

PocketDivXEncoder allows you to encode any video clip with optimized parameters for handled devices (landscape mode, 240x320, low CPU usage, increased brightness, ...). The 2 video output standards (.ogm ou .avi) are playable on the famous DivX players on your PocketPC, Smartphone or Palm : The Core Pocket Media Player. The clips are created thanks to the fast encoder mencoder.

I really like the simple interface (not sure about the Comic Sans font though) and I like the ease with which the presets are not easily selectable and they work.

PocketDivXEncoder can also encode for other devices including Archos video players.

In order to play the encoded video file on the PocketPC, Windows Media Player won't do, but the Core Pocket Media Player will do the job nicely.
