Should I upgrade or not?

will certainly wait until the next round of upgrades to the PowerBook range...

According to the Macrumors Buyers Guide, the PowerBook range is approaching the end of its cycle and will be upgraded to new models soon.

The G4 PowerBook I do have is very nice (though the paint is flaking off somewhat...) but on the train and at a meeting today I saw the new(ish) 12" and 15" models and I thought hmmm.

I have always thought the 17" would be great (especially for playing DVDs when travelling) but had reservations about the 12" because of the small screen area. Mac OS X seems less forgiving with smaller screen areas compared to Windows XP (did I just say that).

However on the train today, the user of the 12" model had her dock on the left hand side of the screen, having always had mine at the bottom I thought that seems to save a little bit of space, so I have done so on the PowerBook to see if it makes a difference.

I will give it a go and see what I like.

The other big decision is do I now upgrade to 10.3.2 or stick with 10.2.8.

I think I will probably have to stick to 10.2.8, as I still have to boot into OS 9.2 now and again, and I am not sure if I can do that with 10.3.2 and I might need to use 10.2.8 now and again.
