Undercoated Covered Ork Trukk

looking a little better...

I have undercoated my covered Ork Trukk.

I have added some score marks to indicate stretching as recommended to me by Warmaster Nice on the EpiComms Discussion Forum.

Covered Trukk

using green stuff...

I had some green stuff left over from another modelling project, so I decided to have a go at modeling a covered trukk (ie one with a tarpaulin cover).

Not sure about the end result, but I think it will look better when painted. If I had the skills I would add ropes and stuff (I don't so I don't think I will even bother).

Ork Missilz Launchaz

maybe a little too Imperial...

I was looking at the smoke launchers from the Chaos Rhino kit and I thought to myself they would make great Epic scale missile launchers. So I looked at how they would look on some Ork trukks.

Having tried them on the Ork trukks, I think they may be a little too imperial like for the Orks.

Ork Anti-Dropship Flakwagon

taking down those pesky Space Marine Landing Craft...

This is my Ork Anti-Dropship Flakwagon.

The concept is that upon sighting an Imperial Dropship (or similar) it would fire all three rockets and attempt to take it down.

It is also used on the battlefield as a heavy artillery piece as well.

It is an Ork Flakwagon with the side panels cut off. A Hydra central unit (from the main weapon) is stuck onto the back and then three Pulsa Rokkits are stuck on that.

It could also be used as a Ork Soopagun.

Epic Skorchaz

another picture...

Here is a picture of my near-finished Epic Skorchaz.

As you can see from this close-up, still a few more things to do.

I am pleased with the end result, and think they look a lot better than my original Skorchaz.

Epic Skorchaz

nearly finished...

I have nearly finished my Epic Ork Skorchaz.

They have been dry-brushed and some detailing added.

Still need to paint the underside (where they were glued down) and add some more detailing. I am quite pleased with them.

Epic Skorchaz

washed...

I have been painting my Epic Ork Skorchaz which are part of my Epic Armageddon Ork Airfield Defence Force.

I have given my Epic Ork Skorchaz an ink/paint wash.

They were given base coats of various shades of brown and orange.

I will then need to drybrush and add more detail and paint the krew.

Epic Skorchaz

metal bits and base coat done...

I have been painting my Epic Ork Skorchaz for my Ork Airfield Defence Force.

The black painted sections have now been drybrushed with Tin Bitz and Boltgun Metal.

I then painted the basecoat, using different colours of orange and brown for each vehicle.

The next stage is to give them an ink/paint wash.

I will then need to drybrush and add more detail and paint the krew.

Epic Skorchaz

painting differently to my older ones...

With some new Epic Skorchaz I am currently painting I am going to follow a scheme I have used on some Wartrakk conversions.

Starting with a white undercoat I have painted the metal parts in black paint.

Once this is finished I will drybrush with Tin Bitz and Boltgun Metal. The rest of the model will be painted in a shade of brown with each model having their own shade. This will then be washed with an ink and paint wash before detailing is added.

My current Epic Skorchaz look like this which was based on an all over black undercoat.

My intention is to follow a scheme similar to these Wartrakk conversions.

Ork Landa

amongst the green foliage of a jungle planet...

This is a picture of my Ork Landa on my grassy terrain.

I think the image works quite well and was one of the reasons I created the terrain.

You can find out how I painted my Landa on my Workbench feature.

Ork Bommerz

flying through the desert...

Here is a photo of my Ork Bommerz...

...flying across a desert looking for Imperial targets.

As you can see the bases work well with the photographic terrain I have been working on, though I may give the terrain a drybrush of Bleached Bone.

My desert boards will be done in a similar fashion.

Epic Skorchaz

additional forces for the Airfield...

I have always liked the Epic Skorcha model. In the past I have painted them black, drybrushed and added some detail.

These ones will be painted in the desert colours to match the forces already painted.

Flakbuggies

conversions...

These are FlakBuggies or Ack Ack Buggies.

They use Flakwagon weapons (which I had used as Trukks in other conversions). Though the one on the end is using a Big Gunz instead.

Epic Ork Bommerz

finished...

With a final drybrush to tone down the wash and accentuate the detail...

I have finished my Forgeworld Epic Ork Bommerz.

I did think about adding some more detail and glyphs, but thought at this small scale it may not work well, and I was pleased with the models as is. I have some metal conversions hanging around which I may try some yellow flames on.

I probably will get some more of these models.

Epic Ork Bommerz

quite a bit of progress on these lovely models...

Well after doing the metal parts I have spent a bit of time on my Forgeworld Ork Bommerz.

The first thing I did was to do the bases, which starts of as a simple flying base, I stuck a small rock and GW's sand mix, before painting Bestial Brown and drybrushing with Bleached Bone.

I wanted to go for the orange/brown look of the FW 40K model.

Though I don't think I will go for the checks or the flame effects which I think wouldn't work in this scale (painted by me they wouldn't).

I first painted the underneath in Vomit Brown.

This meant that I could avoid getting paint on the black metal work.

After painting the complete model in Vomit Brown, I painted the bomb loads in Bestial Brown after thinking that black would be too harsh. I then gave the model a wash. In the following picture the washed model is still wet!

Once the model was completely painted in Vomit Brown I then washed the model with a wash of Chestnut Ink, Scorched Brown and water.

As you can see one model is darker than the other, but I don't think Orks are that uniform.

I still need to do add some more detailing.

The detail on these models is amazing.

Ork Airfield Defence Vehicles

based on Ork Flakwagons...

I am starting some new Ork Airfield Defence Vehicles.

They are based on the Epic40K Ork Flakwagons.

One them will be a fuel bowser.

Landa coming in...

more done...

I have worked some more on my Landa.

First I added a base coat of Desert Yellow.

I then painted various panels different shades of brown, light and dark.

I then gave it a light wash of watered down Chestnut Ink with some Bestial Brown in.

As you can see I still have a few white holes in the "rivets" where both the original base coat and wash failed to penetrate.

The next stage is to drybrush out the gloss of the ink wash and fill in those holes.

Landa

progress report...

I have made a little bit of progress with my Landa.

I have blacked out all the metal parts and then drybrushed with Tin Bitz.

In this close-up shot you can see the detail in the sculpturing, though some of those *rivets* would be a few feet wide!

Having drybrushed with Tin Bitz, a light drybrush of Boltgun Metal to bring out the metal parts.

Another view.

The next stage is to paint it in Desert Yellow.

Ork Airfield Defence Force* airfield vehicles

finished...

I have finished two of my Ork Airfield Defence Force* airfield vehicles.

They have been painted in oranges and browns, and then washed in an ink, paint water mix.

Detailing was then added.

Ork Airfield Defence Force* airfield vehicles

a little bit more done...

I have done the metallic parts of the vehicles in black.

I am using the same basing structure as my Feral Orks to allow the models to be used with either army.

Ork Airfield Defence Force* airfield vehicles

converted and undercoated...

Here are a couple of the Ork Airfield Defence Force airfield vehicles.

The role of these vehicles is to support the function of the Flyboyz, but they are armed with light weapons and/or AAA weapons.

One of the models is armed with a flak weapon from a Flakwagon. The other is towing a Big Gunz trailer with two bombs (lifted from a FW Ork Bomma).

I am using the same basing structure as my Feral Orks to allow the models to be used with either army.

undercoated...

I have undercoated my Ork Landa.

It is a really nice model, and it would be nice if Forgeworld made a 40K version.

Ork Landa

model put together and the gaps filled...

Here is a work in progress of my Ork Landa.

This is an all new model from GW and I did think the quality of the casting was rather sub-standard and the fit of the pieces poor.

I had to fill in quite a few gaps with green stuff, though the top fitted better than the underneath.
