Reaver Titan

a work in progress...

One of the highlights of the Forgeworld Designers' stand at GamesDay 2007 for me this year was the work in progress model of a 40K scale Reaver Titan.

This is one big model, and though it is a work in progress, the detail in the model looks great.

I am guessing this is going to be way out of my price league, but one can dream.

Coming Soon - Shadowsword Conversion Kit

from Forgeworld...

As you might have already guessed with the advent of the plastic BaneBlade, Forgeworld have been working on conversion kits which use the new plastic kit.

This is Daren Parrwood's work in progress of a Shadowsword conversion kit.

The target price is £90-£100 which is two thirds of the price of a full resin Shadowsword, but has the advantage that the plastic part of the kit should be easier to put together than the resin parts of the current model.

Certainly there are other conversion possibilities as well including Ork looted versions and Chaos versions.

Forge World Newsletter #185

another new big tank...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hello Again,

Well, this will be our last special preview newsletter before Games Day UK and we`ve just about done with turning the place upside down with preparations for the event and have a final onslaught of new stuff to show you. All the previews shown in this newsletter are for new models, we are hoping to have some stock of at Games Day UK, but supplies will be strictly limited. However they are all also available to pre-order from us now, for release commencing the 8th of October.

One more thing to say is that thanks to our exhaustive preparations for Games Day and the constant demanded you all seem to have for our models (not that we`re complaining you understand!), we currently have a short delay in getting orders out to you and answering your emails, apologies to any customers who are waiting for their orders and we can assure you we’ll get everything to you as soon as possible.

Hope to see you at Games day!

Thanks
Alan Bligh

Death Korps of Krieg Commissar Models

First up and one sure to please Death Korps players who`ve been after them for a while are Death Korps of Krieg Commissar models. Although of course not actually Krieg soldiers themselves, these Imperial Commissars are outfitted to endure the rigours of the battlefield with their comrades complete with gas mask and rebreather. The Commissar`s role is to instil discipline in the troops and advise their commanders, as well as curb the Death Korps` “enthusiasm” where needed. We have two great Commissar models designed by Simon Egan, the first shown Here overseeing his troops, is a Commissar on foot who can be built with either a laspistol or power sword (both are supplied) and would make a great addition to any Imperial Guard force. The second is a Death Korps Commissar Tank Commander shown Here which you can use either for your Death Korps forces or Imperial Guard Armoured Companies.

Rules for using Commissars in your Death Korps armies can be found in Imperial Armour Volume Five: The Siege of Vrax. We hope to have some of each of these models at Games Day UK this coming weekend, and they are available to pre-order now for release commencing the 8th of October.

New Eldar Avatar & Wave Serpent Type II

New for the Eldar are a new variant Avatar model and the Wave Serpent II for Warhammer 40,000. The superbly detailed Eldar Avatar with Spear by Juan Diaz offers a variation in armament and pose from our other Avatar and comes supplied with a length of brass rod to form the spear haft. This model will appeal to those of you who buy our products just to model and paint as well as play games, as it will make a fantastic centrepiece for your display cabinet or diorama and would superb battling a greater daemon.

The Wave Serpent Type II designed by Will Hayes offers you a variation on the current plastic model that brings this sleek war machine’s style in line with our Falcon II and Scorpion super tank kits, and is available either as a Conversion Kit or as a Complete Model with all Wave Serpent plastics you’ll need to make a complete tank.

These models are perfect if you`re looking to expand your Eldar War Host in time for Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse, with the Wave Serpents adding firepower and manoeuvrability for your troops while the Avatar can smash apart enemy tanks with ease.
We hope to have limited quantities of both of these models available for Games Day, and they are available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 8th of October.

New Aeronautica Imperialis Marauder Variants

Also available for pre-order are two new variant Marauders for our Aeronautica Imperialis game. These two which can see pictured Here, are the Marauder Vigilant and the Marauder Colossus and were designed by Phil Stutchinskas. The Vigilant is a specially outfitted long range reconnaissance aircraft, while the Colossus on the other hand is a heavy bomber, designed to carry a single bunker-busting bomb to smash fortified targets.

Rules for these aircraft can be found in our new Tactica Aeronautica expansion also available to pre-order now.

Both of these models are available for pre-order now for release commencing the week of the 8th of October, and we hope to have some available on Games Day.

Malcador Heavy Tank with Lascannons

We have another new variant of the ancient Malcador Heavy Tank available to order, this version which you can see Here features a twin-linked lascannon in the turret, a hull mounted demolisher cannon, and the sponson options of lascannon, heavy stubber and heavy bolter. A mobile fortress bristling with anti-tank firepower, this version of the Malcador specialises in destroying fortified positions and wreaking havoc with enemy vehicles. Deigned by Darren Parrwood the model is also supplied with both an Imperial Guard and Renegade tank commander, and is usable by either forces. I really like this model, there`s something decidedly old fashioned and industrial about it, making it a real ‘land battleship’ in looks.
The Malcador with lascannons is available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 9th of October, and we hope to have a few for Games Day UK as well. You can find experimental rules for the tank here.

Reservations for Games Day UK 07 are Now Closed

Games Day UK is being held on September 23rd at the Birmingham NEC, and Forge World will be there in force. Unfortunately owing to the constraints of getting things made, packed and transported we can no longer take reservation orders for Games Day UK, sorry! We are however taking an articulated lorry full of stock and we`ll be happy to try to get you anything you want on the day.

Forge World Newsletter #184

really nice Epic airfield...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hello Again,

Hot on the heels of Monday`s preview, I have another newsletter for you with info on what Forge World will be doing at Games day UK, and even more new stuff to show you. Meanwhile here at Forge World the preparations for the day continues at a feverish pace (a little too feverish perhaps, as last newsletter’s PDF experimental rules can attest! These have now been sorted out, sorry for any confusion).

Thanks
Alan Bligh

Forge World At Games Day UK 07

First up I have some more details for you about what Forge World will be doing at Games Day UK. You will be able to find our usual sales stand and about as much stock as we can cram in the back of a large articulated truck, by the entrance door F1 in the Forum Hall (where we were last year). Also present will be our entire studio team who have their own stand nearby and will be happy to answer questions as well as show our new models. They have also created a fantastic Siege of Vraks and Aeronautica Imperialis air base display boards which will be on show. You also be able to see some of our ‘work in progress’ designs, among which you will find one very large model indeed….

We will also be running participation games of Aeronautica Imperialis in 40K scale in a special gaming area near our sales stand. This idea which we first introduced at out Open Day earlier in the year has proved very popular, so if you want a chance to do battle in the skies with some big planes, big bases and big dice do come and sign up for a game early on.

Tactica Aeronautica

First previewed a few newsletter ago, Tactica Aeronautica the first expansion book for Aeronautica Imperialis is now available for pre-order here for release on the week commencing the 8th of October and the first 500 copies will be signed, and I can confirm we should have some copies for sale at Games Day UK. Tactica is a brand new 128 page colour hardback that expands the game and features new aircraft, scenarios, rules and lots of hobby material as well as a brand new campaign narrative the Typha-IV conflict, depicting a desperate air war fought between the Imperium and the Tau Empire, and a variant campaign system allowing you to re-create conflict and determine the victor for yourselves.

You can find pictures of the cover and some sample page spreads Here

New Show Only Model! Ogryn Berserker with Death Korps Victim

As well as this year`s other Games Day special models, the Imperial Thunderbolt Pilot and the Ork Skwadron Commander, we have another new special model for sale at Games Day UK, a Renegade Ogryn Berserker with Death Korps Victim which you can see Here. This great model designed by Mark Bedford really does have so much character and drama to it, as well as brutally brings home just how big and nasty those renegade Ogryns are!

This model will only be available at shows only, in limited numbers, and may not be separately reserved.

Aeronautica Air Base Models

Also available to pre-order for release the week commencing the 8th of October, is our fantastic new Aeronautica Imperialis Air Base designed by Phil Stutchinskas. As you can see from the picture Here, these models have a fantastic level of detail on them, and of course are perfect for your games of Epic 40,000 as well as Aeronautic Imperialis, and are also tailor-made for use with the new campaign in Tactica Aeronautica.

The Air Base is available in the following component parts:

Imperial Landing Pad -SmallImperial Landing Pad -LargeAirbase Control TowerAirbase Accessories

Forge World Newsletter #183

big new super heavy tank...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hello All,

Welcome to the second of our promised Games Day preview newsletters and it`s less than a fortnight to go before the big day itself. We have three great new previews for you this time, all of which we hope to have available at Games Day UK, and are available to pre-order for despatch the week commencing the 9th of October.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

Death Korps Quartermaster and Servitors

First up for our previews is the much anticipated Death Korps of Krieg Quartermaster and Servitors. The quartermaster serves a unique role within the Death Korps in administering the Emperor`s Mercy to those fallen warriors too injured to carry on the fight, and is accompanied by specialised servitors to help recover and redistribute the wargear of the slain. Designed by Mark Bedford and Simon Egan, these are some fantastically detailed models, and the set features a wonderfully sinister quartermaster with skull mask and ribbed chest plate, three decidedly gothic and funereal servitors and a single unfortunate Death Korps ‘casualty.’ As well as being useful for your Death Korps army, the set would make a great vignette in itself!
Rules for the Quartermaster and servitors can be found in Imperial Armour Volume 5 The Siege of Vraks, and you can find more pictures of them here. The Quartermaster and servitors is available to pre-order now for release commencing the 9th of October, and we hope to have a limited quantity available for sale at UK Games Day.

Macharius Super Heavy Tank with Vulcan Mega Bolter

Made to reap through the enemy like a scythe through ripe wheat, this Macharius is the first super-heavy tank Forge World have produced to use the powerful Vulcan Mega-Bolter, a weapon more usually found on Titans. The tank’s massive firepower is perfect for destroying enemy troop formations and whole squads of like vehicles in a single volley, and will stand players in good stead in their future games of 40K Apocalypse. The model designed by Darren Parrwood is certainly another fine addition to our range of tanks, and I particularly like the distinctive compact double-barrelled turret which looks particularly mean!

You can find more pictures of the new Macharius with Vulcan Mega-Bolter here, and experimental rules for the tank here.

The Macharius with Vulcan Mega-Bolter is available to pre-order now for release commencing the 9th of October, an

Tau Remora Drone Stealth fighter

This sleek looking drone aircraft for the Tau emphasises their philosophy of high speed, mobile warfare and protecting the lives of their troops. An autonomous drone unit designed to provide air cover for the Tau forces and conduct lightning strikes, the Remora can be deployed independently or dropped directly from a specially modified Tau Tiger Shark Bombers and Mantas, the wings on the model fold up to allow it to be stowed and carried this way.

You can find more pictures of the new Tau Remora here and experimental rules here.

The Remora designed by Will Hayes is supplied as a pack of two complete models, and available to pre-order now for release commencing the 9th of October, and we should have some available at UK Games Day.

Forge World Newsletter #181

nice new Epic Heavy Ork Bommerz...

As was indicated in an earlier Forge World newsletter Forge World are going to release an Epic Heavy Ork Bommer for Aeronautica Imperialis. There are three versions as well, and with interchangeable parts. Doesn't quite look as I would have envisaged, but still nice.

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hi There,

Well our event season is in full swing and this weekend we’re off to Games Day Germany, but we haven’t neglected the rest of you as we have two fantastic releases to announce in the shape of the Malcador heavy tank with Battle Cannon, and not one, but three new glorious Ork Bommerz for Aeronautica Imperialis.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

Malcador With Battle Cannon

The new Malcador with Battle cannon, designed by Daren Parrwood, offers another fantastic option for your Renegade or Imperial Guard forces. The tank features a modified upper hull with an unusual enclosed turret mounted cannon giving the Malcador a very unique and arcane feel compared to more conventionally designed Imperial tanks, and a real flavour of the Imperium’s ten-thousand year long history of war. The tank’s other armament, modified from the standard Malcador also includes a optional autocannons, lascannons or heavy bolters for the hull and sponson mounts. As a super-heavy tank, the Malcador will prove far more durable in open battle that the smaller Leman Russ, serving as a mobile fortress for your advance. The model is supplied with full weapon options and commander models for both Vraksian Renegade Militia and the Imperial Guard. You can view pictures Here.

We hope to have experimental rules for the Malcador with Battle Cannon on our website soon..

The Malcador with Battle Cannon is available to pre-order Now for release commencing the 3rd of September. Were are also hoping to have a small number with us to sell at Games Day Germany, but this supply will be very limited, so get in early to avoid disappointment!

Aeronautica Imperials Ork Bommerz

Also available to pre-order now are our new Ork Bommerz for Aeronautica Imperialis; there are in fact three of these beasts, and each is superbly detailed with no end of engines, guns, rockets and wacky Ork ‘tech’. The fact that all the component parts (noses, wings, fuselages, tails etc.) are all fully interchangeable between the models means if you buy multiple bommerz there’s loads of different cool combinations and looks you can achieve. We couldn’t resist going to town on this ourselves as you can see in our extensive (40+ picture) gallery here.

Designed by the inimitable Mr Parrwood, the Ork Bommerz are multi-purpose in true greenskin fashion, doubling up as transport craft (as stormboys can be pushed out of the back door just as easily as bombs!), and they can therefore fill a lot of different roles in your Games of Aeronautica Imperialis.

Basic experimental rules for the Bommer can be found Here. Full rules will appear in the forthcoming Aeronautical Imperialis Supplement.

Also available for pre-order is our new Ork Bomb & Rokkit pack for Aeronautica which you can use with any of your Ork planes. This allows you to load up your Bommerz with even more bombs! Pictures can be found Here.
You can view the components for the Ork Bommer, Blasta Bommer 1 and Blasta Bommer 2 and are all available to pre-order now for release week commencing the 3rd of September.

Forthcoming Events

Forge World will be attending, Games Day Germany on Sunday the 5th of August and Games Day Los Angeles on the 11th of August, with our full trade stand and we hope to see you there.

We’ll also have a presence at Gen Con UK in Reading on the 1st and 2nd September. Although at Gen Con we won’t have a full trade stand, we will have some of our most recent releases with us, and we’ll be able to take your orders on the day to send out to you later You can also place a reservation order with us to pick up and pay for at Gen Con UK. Just email or phone us before hand with the details of the models and books you want to pick up on the day.

Forge World Newsletter #180

some nice new Epic Ork vehicles and guns...

There are some nice new Epic Scale Ork Flak Gunz & Flak Wagon announced in this newsletter, which will make some nice reinforcements for my Ork Epic army. Hopefully at some point Forge World will make some more Epic Ork stuff which is not just for Aeronautica Imperialis.

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hi There,

Here at Forge World we`re busy preparing for the onslaught of Games Days we have all over the world in the next two months, and we should have quite a few surprises and cool models in store for you. Yet we still have three new releases for you now in the shape of new Ork Flak Gunz and Flak Wagon in Epic scale for Aeronautica Imperialis, and the much anticipated Death Korps of Krieg HQ Command Squad for Warhammer 40,000.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

Death Korps of Krieg Command HQ Squad

I know many of our customers have been waiting with baited breath for the release of the Death Korps of Krieg HQ Command Squad, and I hope you`ll agree it`s been worth the wait. Extremely detailed and characterful, this HQ Command Squad is another fantastic addition to our Death Korps range sculpted by Simon Egan. The squad features a senior officer standing impassively surveying the battlefield, two troopers with lasguns, a master-vox operator, and an ensign carrying a regimental standard that should leave no-one in doubt as to the Death Korps` nature or intent. The officer in particular is a stand-out model for me, clearly sharing much in terms of uniform with the Krieg Death Riders, there`s a lot of truly stunning detail that Mr Egan has lavished on his design from the Imperial Aquila gorget to the life-like way he`s sculpted the hang of the officer`s coat. It`s a great model and one of the reasons I think this squad`s going to be popular not just with Krieg players, but with hobbyists and painters of all types.
Full rules for the Death Korps of Krieg Command Squad can be found in Imperial Armour Volume 5: The Siege of Vraks.

The Death Korps of Krieg HQ Command Squad is available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 30th of July, click Here to find them on our online store.

Ork Flakwagon Epic Scale Ork Flak Gunz & Flak Wagon

New for Aeronautica Imperialis (not to mention your games of Epic) are new Ork Flak Gunz and Flak Wagons, designed by Will Hayes. These highly detailed little beauties look great with their quad barrelled shoota cannon and are ready to rip enemy aircraft out of the sky in a suitably loud orkish hail of lead.
The Ork Flak Gunz and Ork Flak Wagon are available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 30th of July, click Here to find them on our online store.

Forthcoming Events

Forge World will be attending Games Day Chicago on the 28th of July, Games Day Germany on Sunday the 5th of August and Games Day Los Angeles on the 11th of August.

If you’d like to place an order to reserve items to pick up and pay for at Games Day, you can do so by sending an email with your name, the event and order details to our Forge World inbox at forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk. Please put ‘Reservation’ in the email header. Once your reservation order has been successfully placed we`ll send you a confirmation email to let you know.

Forge World Newsletter #179

new epic Sabre Defence Platforms and what looks like an Ork Heavy Bomber...

Ork Heavy Bomber ??? For me one of the key parts of this newsletter is the picture of what to me looks like an Epic Ork Heavy Bomber. True we only get to see the nose, but what else could it be. I do hope that we see this soon.

What do you think?

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hello All,

This newsletter sees the release not only of a much-requested new tank variant in the shape of the Macharius with Vanquisher Cannons, but also our new Epic Scale Sabre Platforms and some exciting hints at the future of Aeronautica Imperialis too!

Thanks

Alan Bligh

Macharius With Vanquisher Cannons

As the first variant of our Macharius Heavy Tank, the new Vanquisher cannon armed model is indeed a brutal looking beast and every inch the armoured killer, and what`s more it looks the part to as you can see Here. This variant`s twin Vanquisher cannon make it a tank-destroyer with few equals on the Warhammer 40,000 battlefield and a serious threat even to other super-heavies, with its Vanquisher anti-tank shells able to pulverise even the most heavily armoured target into wreckage.

Rules for the Macharius Vanquisher can be found Here

The Macharius with Vanquisher Cannons is available for pre-order now for release from the week commencing 30th July.

Epic Sabre Defence Platforms

Also available to pre-order now for release on the 30th of July are our new Epic Scale Sabre Platforms. These finely detailed small models are equipped with long-barrelled AA mount autocannons, and are a very characterful way of bolstering your ground defences during a an AI game, and of course are also perfectly usable in your games of Epic as well.

Full rules for using air defences and Sabre Platforms can be found in the Aeronautica Imperialis Rulebook.

The Sabre Defence Platforms are available for pre-order now for release from the week commencing 30th July.

New On The Horizon

Those of you who have become converts of our air combat game Aeronautica Imperialis (and if not, one is forced to wonder, why not?) have been enquiring for a while whether or not we have anything more in the pipeline for the game. Well I`m happy to say that the powers that be have let me inform you that the answer is an emphatic `yes` Not only are there just some great new aircraft on the way, we also have a new Imperial airbase set and a new supplement book in preparation for the game, all of which we hope to have for you very soon. Keep an eye for more news on this in future newsletters.

Forthcoming Events

We`ve a busy schedule in the coming months, we will be attending Games Day Chicago on the 28th of July where we will have a good selection of our stock for you to purchase, including a few pre-release items and our much sought-after Show Only Models, as well as previews of what we have in store. You want to place a reservation order for this event to pick up and pay for on the day, it should reach us by this Friday (the 13th no less!)

Forge World also will be attending Games Day Germany on Sunday the 5th of August and Games Day Los Angeles on the 11th of August, and the cut off date for reservations to reach us for both of these events is Friday the 27th of July.

If you`d like to place an order to reserve items to pick up and pay for on the day, you can do so by sending an email entitled with the games day you`ll be attending and containing with your order details and full name to our Forge World inbox at forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk. Once your order has been successfully placed we`ll send you a confirmation email to let you know. Also, it`s good to remember that the earlier you place your reservation with us the better, as some of the popular new items may only have limited stock.

Forge World Newsletter #178

some Chaos stuff...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hi There,

Welcome again to the Forge World Newsletter, this edition we have a brace on exciting new releases to preview for you, first off there is the mighty Chaos Harbinger for Aeronautica Imperialis, while for Warhammer 40,000 we have the new reinforcements for the Vraksian Renegade Militia in the shape of our new Rogue Psykers and the Enforcer Conversion set.

Alan Bligh
Forge World

Chaos Harbinger

A brand new aircraft for Aeronautica Imperialis, the Chaos Harbinger is a vast warplane; a heavy bomber designed to level cities and engulf them in a sea of incendiary fire. The model itself; -a wickedly streamlined killing machine is a great new design around 17cm long, and just over 11cm wide, which puts it at several times the size of an Imperial Marauder and largely comparable in scale to a Tau Manta, although a deal sleeker and more deadly looking in profile. You can find pictures of the new Harbinger (including a few shots for size comparison) Here.

In the game the Harbinger is hugely destructive to ground targets, bringing a deadly punch to Chaos air fleets both for scenarios and campaign play, and it`s also well defended with reaper autocannon to keep would-be interceptors at bay. You can find experimental rules for using the Harbinger in your games of Aeronautica Here.

The Harbinger is available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 2nd of July.

Renegade Militia Enforcers - Conversion Set

The first of our new models to augment the forces of the Vraksian Renegade Militia in this newsletter are the Renegade Militia Enforcers Conversion Set. The Vraksian Enforcers are the fanatical followers of the heretic Cardinal Xaphan, it is they who enact his will and enforce brutal discipline in the ranks of the Renegade Militia, spurring on the troopers to greater heights of violence and killing those whose cowardice turns them from the Cardinal`s path.

This set comprises of enough parts (heads and plated torsos, arms, armour plates and weapons) to create five Renegade Militia Enforcers in conjunction with the Plastic Cadian Shock Troopers boxed set (although as with our other Renegade Militia Conversion sets you can use other plastics with a little effort too). These models by Mark Bedford are great additions to the range, and I predict that their hellish skull-masks are going to be gracing quite a few battlefields shortly, and they aptly show the dark path down which the Renegades of Vraks are being lead. As well as Vraksian Enforcers, you could also use these conversion kits to create marvellously sinister unit leaders, arch-heretics and demagogues for your Traitor Guard, Lost and Damned armies, cultists and more.

The Renegade Militia Enforcer conversion sets are available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 2nd of July.

Renegade Militia Rogue Psykers

Along with the new Enforcers, this newsletter we also have our new Rogue Psyker models also by our own master of all-things renegade -Mark Bedford. This pack of two complete resin models presenting two very different illustrations of the Rogue Psykers unleashed on Vraks; one exulting in his dark arts and the others screaming in agony as the powers of the warp flood through him. As well as powerful (if unpredictable) additions to a Renegade Militia force, these hugely characterful models I`m sure will appeal to both collectors and gamers alike, making for great retinue members for Inquisitorial warbands (particularly of a radical bent), Daemonhunter and Witchhunter foes, demagogues and sorcerers.

The Rogue Psykers are available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 2nd of July.

You can find full rules for the Renegade Militia Enforcers and Rogue Psykers in Imperial Armour Volume 5: The Siege of Vraks.

Forthcoming Events

First a quick reminder that we will be attending Games Day Baltimore this coming Saturday (23rd) where we will not only be on hand with a good selection of stock for you to purchase, including a few pre-release items and our much sought-after Show Only Models, but also to preview some of our forthcoming models, including some you won`t have seen yet!

Forge World also will be attending Games Day Chicago on the 28th of July, at the Donald E Stephens Convention Centre in Rosemont, Illinois. If you`d like to place an order to reserve items to pick up and pay for on the day, you can do so by sending an email entitled GD Chicago Reservations with your order details and full name to our Forge World inbox at forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk. Forge World Newsletter #177

big tank...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Forge World`s 177th newsletter. This issue announces the release of several exciting new items that we`ve previewed over the past few weeks at shows we`ve attended and here in our newsletters, namely the much-anticipated Malcador Heavy tank, Etched Brass for the Renegade Militia and a new sheet of Transfers for the Death Korps of Krieg.

Thanks,

Alan Bligh,
Forge World.

…But First A Thank You to Our Customers

As many of you will know, owing to the many events Forge World has attended over the last few months, both here and abroad and the popularity of our products, we`ve unfortunately had a few delays in getting orders to our customers as soon as we would like, and we`d like to thank you all for your patience with us during this period. The good news though is that thanks to fantastic labours of our warehouse staff we are back up to date and on top of things, and I’m happy to say order/dispatch times are now back to normal.

The Imperial Malcador Heavy Tank - Armoured Firepower!

Designed by Daren Parrwood, our new Malcador Heavy Tank has caused quite a stir since it was first previewed at our Forge World Open day in Nottingham back in April, and is now available for pre-order for release on the 2nd of July.

An ancient tank design perhaps even older than the Leman Russ, the Malcador is a huge, heavy and lumbering war machine intended to smash through enemy lines and batter through fortified defences with brute force. Designed to use its hull mounted demolisher cannon to deal with enemy tanks and bunkers, while its raised superstructure features no fewer than five heavy bolters giving all round arcs of fire to allow it to cut down swathes of enemy troops. This firepower is further added to by the addition of side-sponson weaponry, which may be either additional heavy bolters, heavy flamers or lascannon as needed. The Malcador is a mobile fortress, capable of raining down destruction on all sides and a powerful addition to any Imperial or Renegade force.

Although smaller than the Baneblade, the Malcador is still a super-heavy tank, and this superb model is a massive 200mm/8inches in length, you can see it compared to a Leman Russ here. A brand new design the tank kit features a range of weapon sponson options, trench rails and two alternate commander models, one for the Imperial Guard and the other for the Vraksian Renegade Militia.

The Malcador will be fully detailed in a forthcoming Imperial Armour book, but for now you can download experimental rules for the tank here and the model is usable in your games as part of a super-heavy vehicle detachment for both the Imperial Guard and the Vraksian Renegade Militia.

Renegade Etched Brass

Also fresh out for pre-order now for release on the 2nd of July is our new Renegade Militia Etched Brass, this fantastically detailed sheet is made up of thirty-four symbols of the Ruinous Powers in numerous shapes and styles, as well as twenty small corroded-looking numbering plates. They are ideal not only for adding detail to your Renegade Militia vehicles for the Siege of Vraks (and saving a lot of perilous free hand painting!), but are also great additions for any Chaos Marine or Lost and Damned force, and even as Warhammer Fantasy Battles Chaos banner and shield icons. You can pre-order this item here

Death Korps of Krieg Transfers

Another new addition is our new Transfer sheet for the Death Korps of Krieg. This large (A4 size) two colour (white and red) transfer sheet is a perfect way to individualize your Imperial Guard vehicles, troops, bunkers and terrain pieces, and while they have been made with our Death Korps in mind, they are perfectly usable with many other Imperial forces. You can find a picture of the new transfer sheets here. The sheets contain over 1000 symbols each, including numbered unit markings, Imperial Aquillas, mottos, shoulder pad insignia, battle group symbols, minefield warning signs, trench markings, and more. These transfer sheets are also available to pre-order now for release on the 2nd of July.

Forge World Newsletter #176

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hi folks, and welcome to the latest Forge World Newsletter. In today`s issue we`ll be taking a longer, closer look at two of our most recent releases, Imperial Armour Volume 5 – The Siege of Vraks Part 1 and our very popular 40K Trench System. Deeper inside the newsletter we`ll be sharing some preview pictures of imminent releases with you as well as news on other new projects Forge World is finishing off.
Thx,

Ewen Little,
Forge World.

Games Day Baltimore, News & Final Call for Reservations!

In just a few short weeks, Forge World will make our annual trip to arguably the biggest and best Games Day in the USA, Games Day Baltimore on Saturday June 23rd. I will be running our usual huge sales area, crammed with thousands of Forge World models for you to buy and carry home on the day along with Sandy, Elliott, Tim, Steve and Jill.

If you do not want to wait in line, (and it can be a BIG line!), please think seriously about placing a reservation order. For details on how to place a reservation order, please just click here. The absolute latest that you can place a reservation order so that we can get it picked, packed and shipped over in time is June 7th.

As previously mentioned, Forge World Design Studio Manager Owen Branham will be coming as a special guest at the event. Owen will bring and display many new items that he and the guys that work with him in the Forge World Design Studio are working on, and he`ll also be able to answer any of your questions about Forge World models.

`Imperial Armour Volume 5 – The Siege of Vraks Part 1` - A Closer Look

IA5 is officially the fastest selling book that Forge World has released. We are sending so many copies out since it`s release that we`ve had to order in a larger van to collect the mail each day!

So why is this book so popular then? Without real mention of the superlatively detailed narrative, the many illustrations, maps and background information, this huge book contains two new Warhammer 40,000 army lists; the Death Korps of Krieg Siege Regiment army list and the Renegades and Heretics army list.

The Siege Regiment list is a specialised Imperial Guard army list, much like the Armoured Company or Drop Troops army lists, developed to give a whole new character and style of play to the Death Korps and the greater Imperial Guard as a whole.

The Renegades and Heretics army list creates a wholly new kind of Chaos force, one just beginning the fall to damnation and into the clutches of the Dark Gods. This is an army list that can stand toe-to-toe with many an Imperial Guard army in terms of numbers of troops and firepower that can be amassed, without any Daemons or possessed gobbling up huge amounts of points.

Over a third of this big 192 page book is dedicated to the story and narrative. You are led through the back-story and histories of the key players in this sorry tale, leading to the build-up of military forces and the inevitable titanic clash of millions of troops, artillery pieces and lumbering armoured vehicles upon the wasteland surface of Vraks Prime. Warwick`s narrative is detailed down to the level of individual troops, which I found gives a very realistic first-hand account of the bitter fighting and foul environment of the trenches and battlefields. The reader is kept aware of the `Big Picture` through the use of maps and strategic overviews of the campaign as the years of grinding warfare continue remorselessly.

Of course the forces of Krieg and the Vraksian Militia are not the only ones fighting on the plains of Vraks during the first years of the war. Perhaps responding to the reported appearance of Traitor Space Marines, almost half the Dark Angels Space Marine Chapter are lead into battle by Azreal, the Supreme Grand Master of the Chapter. The Dark Angels launch a furious assault against Vraks star port with the aim of destroying the renegades` ability to land more reinforcements. Whilst succeeding in this objective, the hoped for capture of the enemy they were truly seeking, the Alpha Legion warband of Arkos the Faithless, unfortunately did not go according to plan.

IA5 details the composition of the Dark Angels strike force lead by Azreal and shows many colour profiles and details of many Battle Brothers who fought during the Vraks deployment.

To show you that little bit more of this great book we have created another selection of page spreads. Just click here to take a look.

`Imperial Armour Volume 5 – The Siege of Vraks Part 1` is in stock at Forge World and is available to order via the Forge World online store today.

Second Glance – 40K Trench System

Since we showed the 40K Trench System in our last newsletter, we`ve had quite a few enquiries about it so we decided to re-visit this new scenery system and show you some more pictures.

One thing I forgot to include first time round was how big the trenches were! In the basic set you get three long straight sections that are each approximately 140mm/5.5inches long. The floor of the trench is a minimum of 40mm wide so big models like Space Marine Terminators and Tyranid Warriors will fit. Most human-sized models will be protected from enemy fire by the deep sides of the trenches, a good 40mm deep with the additional protection of ferrocrete crenulations above that!

Long, straight trenches are not a good idea. If the enemy manage to get into the trench then they can fire down the entire length. Far better to have short lengths of trench separated by corners, so the set includes three junction/corner sections. Any `blank` ends can be completed with the dedicated end sections, gun emplacements, bunkers, or just left with a dirt face to represent where excavation has stopped.

The Gun Emplacements have been designed to work with the pack of Trench System Heavy Weapons, but with a minute or two of simple converting I have no doubt that plastic Imperial Guard heavy weapons will fit. For that matter, I reckon that with very little work almost any medium sized heavy weapon could be fitted to these Gun Emplacements and to the heavy ferrocrete Trench Bunker to make a set of Cadian trenches, Ork dugouts or defences captured by the corrupting powers of Chaos.

The Trench Bunker could make a great command post but it does have mounts for three heavy weapons inside. I think that this would be perfect to represent a `dug-in` Imperial Guard heavy weapon squad…
To add character and depth to your trench system, the designers made various packs that can be added to your fortifications, such as Ladders, Firing Steps and Bridges which would allow your troops to `go over the top` more easily, packs of overhead Support Struts and Light Bars, as well as a pack of Imperial Guard Equipment.

I’m a big fan of the 40K Trench System and love how easy it is to make. See our simple `How To` guide here. All you need is two sheets of 25mm/1inch thick polystyrene and you are off! The entire 40K Trench System is in stock at Forge World and is available to order via the Forge World online store right now.
Conflict South – We`re Going! Are YOU?

This Sunday, June 3rd, Forge World will be down in London at Alexandra Palace for the fourth and final Conflict Regional Tournament. We`re filling a van with lots of our model kits which will be for sale all day and a great selection of our beautifully painted display models too. This is a great chance to see our newest releases and old favourites, take a closer look at the models you want to add to your collection next and ask Steve, Keith or Tris, the Forge World guys going along, any questions you may have.

New Models on the Horizon…

In the next number of weeks we`ll be able to release a whole lot of new model kits and accessories. In the newsletter today we’ll take a quick look at two of these.

The Malcador Heavy Tank has been spotted at a few Forge World shows and events already this Spring. To tell the truth there have been several different versions and variants on the design out there but this one is far more a `finished` model, even though we`re not showing you all the options and parts that come with the kit! This Malcador is bristling with firepower, no fewer than five Heavy Bolters in the raised superstructure, a Lascannon on either side in rather neat recessed sponsons and the huge snout of a Demolisher Cannon jutting out of the lower front hull. This is going to be quite a serious opponent to face on the battlefield!

I like the huge engine deck hanging way out the back of the Malcador, the visible road-wheels and that boxy superstructure. This is an ugly brute of a tank and I really like it! I look forward to showcasing it in greater detail in another Forge World Newsletter soon.

Renegade Militia Enforcers are an elite cadre of brutal strongmen loyal to the renegade Cardinal Xaphan on Vraks. They oversee the rank and file hordes of Renegade Militia troops fighting in his name, but those that fail in their duty, or waver in their devotion to their foul leader face summary execution at the hands of the Enforcers…

This is just one of several Enforcer models that will be released in the next number of weeks, all armed with a variety of nasty, jagged close combat weapons and pistols. The demonic faced helmets are just great and make a perfect contrast to the soft looking gas-masks of the Renegade Militia they will `encourage` into battle!

And there`s more....

Renegade Militia forces will soon be able to mark their vehicles, fortifications and troops with our newest set of etched brass icons and symbols. That`s so new even I haven`t seen it yet!

Not to be outdone, Death Korps of Krieg regiments will soon be able to get their gauntleted hands on a huge new sheet of water-slide transfers.

The skies of Aeronautica Imperialis games will become even more dangerous places in the weeks to come as we continue to make new models to fill the spaces in the book. Not only that, but I have seen the most enormous Chaos bomber down on one of the designer`s desks, so we can expect news and pictures of new aircraft and models to reach the newsletter soon!

Forge World Newsletter #175

trench foot...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hi everyone,

Hot on the heels of our release announcement for ‘Imperial Armour Volume Five: The Siege of Vraks – Part 1’, we have some more releases in this newsletter to help you re-create the epic struggle for this war torn world in the shape of a new Warhammer 40,000 Trench System and our special new Death Korps of Krieg Infantry Squads, allowing you to fill your Gorgon transports with their full complement of cargo or man your trenches with rank after rank of grim Imperial troops. We also have two brand new sheets of etched brass to tempt both the followers of Khorne and collectors of Dark Angels Space Marines.

(Of course, as I’ve been away in the USA and Canada for the last two weeks meeting lots of you at the two most recent Games Days, the vast majority of this newsletter is the work of our very own Mr Alan Bligh, and I have just added the odd bit here and there. Thanks for your help Alan!)
Thx,

Ewen Little,
Forge World.

Warhammer 40,000 Imperial Trench System

In concert with Imperial Armour Volume Five, we’ve created a range of terrain pieces allowing you to re-create the brutal trench fighting that takes places on Vraks, or indeed any other war-torn battlefield of your choice. Our system features a wide range of options and combinations including fortified firing posts, Death Korps heavy weapons, as well as trench equipment, ladders and a bunker strongpoint. The huge flexibility of the Trench System allows you to create your own unique network of trenches and fortifications for your battles and is intended to be used a part of a purpose made board in conjunction with other terrain.

Trenches are such a simple battlefield terrain feature but until now were a real challenge to make on your own. To use the trenches you just need two sheets of 1 inch/25mm thick polyfoam sheet available from almost every home-improvement store, cut the shape of the trench out of both and drop them in. It really is that simple! See an example of how to build and use the new 40K Trench System here.

Our new 40K Trench System is available to pre-order now for release week commencing the 21st of May. Click here to pre-order yours at the Forge World online store.

With an absolute minimum of effort, the Trench System can easily be converted for use by non-Imperial 40K armies too. File off or deface a few Aquila symbols, add a bit of damage, graffiti and other such characterful bits and pieces and then Ork Warbosses and Chaos Warmasters can hold an over-run Imperial position…

The Trench System breaks down into the following sets:

40K TRENCH SYSTEM - TRENCH SET 1 (3X STRAIGHTS, 2X CORNERS)
40K TRENCH SYSTEM - TRENCH END WITH GUN MOUNT
40K TRENCH SYSTEM - TRENCH BUNKER
40K TRENCH SYSTEM - TRENCH SUPPORT STRUT WITH LIGHT X6
40K TRENCH SYSTEM - LADDERS, FIRING STEPS & BRIDGES
40K TRENCH SYSTEM - EQUIPMENT (SCANNER, GENERATOR ETC.)
40K TRENCH SYSTEM - TRENCH END WITH LADDER X2
40K TRENCH SYSTEM - HEAVY WEAPONS (STUBBERS & AUTOCANNON) WITH 3 CREW

Death Korps of Krieg Gorgon Infantry

Characterful, beautifully detailed and oh-so-useful. These terms all perfectly describe our next release; Death Korps of Krieg Gorgon Infantry. These are special single part castings of up to six guardsmen in line abreast, designed to allow you to fit the full complement of 50 Death Korps Guardsmen in a Gorgon. You can now rumble implacably across the table and sow a little terror in your opponent’s mind by showing them just how many troops you’re assaulting with! Another great use for these troops is to line the new 40K trench system shown above with them as they mass, ready to ‘go over the top’! As well as being a useful representation for the Warhammer 40K player, they are also lovely models and I’ve no doubt they’ll grace many display pieces and dioramas too.

These new Gorgon Infantry models are available either on their own or bundled with either of our Gorgon Assault Transport variants, and are available for pre-order at the Forge World online store now for release week commencing the 21st of May.

New Etched Brass – Khorne & Dark Angels

Khorne players for Warhammer Fantasy as well as Warhammer 40K will want to take a look at this new sheet of etched brass Khorne symbols and icons. Ranging from the simple Khorne symbols a mere 2mm or 1/16 of an inch across that you see in the top right of the sheet, to the incredible, much larger icons in the top left and bottom right. I can see these finding use on shields, barding and banners for Warhammer players and then again being used by 40K Khorne followers on Dreadnoughts, Chaos Space Marine shoulder pads and armoured vehicles.

Dark Angels collectors will also have a wide variety of icons and symbols to adorn their forces with. From the tiny Chapter icon that is small enough to grace individual weapons to huge armoured plates proclaiming the proud ancestry of this, the very first Chapter of Imperial Space Marines. Take a closer look here.

Both these stunning new etched brass sheets are available for pre-order at the Forge World online store now for release week commencing the 21st of May.

Forge World Newsletter #173

some great Death Riders...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hi folks, and welcome to the 173rd Forge World Newsletter.
Hi, and welcome to the Forge World Newsletter. In this issue we`ll be taking a long, hard look at some of the most anticipated Forge World releases for months: The Death Korps of Krieg Death Riders! We also have some news on our next big book, the soon to be released `Imperial Armour Volume 5 – The Siege of Vraks, Part 1` and the release of several Leman Russ turrets too.
Thx,

Ewen Little
Forge World.

Death Korps of Krieg Death Riders
Although superficially similar to cavalry units found among some other Imperial Guard regiments, the Death Riders of Krieg are very different indeed. The most obvious aspect of this is the nature of their mounts, the legendary Krieg steed. Highly adapted from the biological original, this animal is the product of many years of extreme genetic engineering; specifically tailored for strength, endurance and aggression with numerous additional bio-sculpted organs and sub-dermal organic armour and a fully integrated drug injection system…
The overriding opinion around the Forge World offices is that these Death Korps of Krieg Death Riders are some of the best models that we have made to date. I think I have to agree with that consensus; these Death Riders are truly lovely models!

What Daniel Cockersell, Simon Egan and Will Hayes, the three guys who created these little works of art have given us to play with are five gorgeous individual models that can be bought either individually or as a section of five. (I did check the Death Rider unit entry in `Imperial Armour Volume 5` and they are fielded in units of between five and ten.)

Each Death Rider is beautifully rendered as one large piece, integral with his steed which has two separate legs, cunningly removed to allow ease of casting and all that lovely detail to be kept perfect. The right arms that carry the hunting lances are all separate resin components, as are the re-breather units for the steeds, lance heads, pennants, accessories and the ever-present entrenching tool that no Death Korps guardsman would been without. Death Rider 1 includes two arms, one a regular Death Rider arm, the other displaying a badge of rank so that he can be assembled as the unit leader, a rank known as Ridemaster. The lances themselves we wanted to be realistic looking and so we decided to use pre-cut lengths of brass rod for strength and durability. The Death Riders` gloved hands have been sculpted to wrap around the lance and grip the lance in a natural pose. The resin lance heads and pennants simply slide onto the top of the rod and are stuck in place with a touch of glue to make a very elegant and believable cavalry weapon.

The Death Korps of Krieg Death Riders are available to pre-order from Forge World`s online store right now for release week commencing Monday May 1st both as a box of all five different models or individually. I think these are going to be very, very popular, so if you want to get them shipped out to you on the week of release, take my advice and pre-order them immediately!

We have just taken delivery of the brand new Forge World 2007 catalogue and started to send it out. If you have requested a free catalogue in the last few weeks then one will be on its way out to you very soon. If you haven’t and would like to receive one, just send us your name and postal address to forgeworldcatreq@games-workshop.co.uk and we’ll get one in the post to you just as soon as we can.

It’s nearly here! `Imperial Armour Volume 5 – The Siege of Vraks, Part 1`
This is Forge World`s fifth large format hardback book, and the campaign being reported therein is so huge that we have had to split it into across at least two books! We should have this 196 page book back from the printers in the next few weeks, so just as soon as I have a confirmed delivery date from them we’ll be able to set a release date. Without giving too much away about the book itself today, something new is the addition of a double-sided poster, folded and included with every copy.

I hope to be able to have the release information and to share some example pages with you in the very next issue of the Forge World newsletter, so watch your inboxes!

Newly available: Ryza pattern Leman Russ turrets
Available to pre-order from today onwards at Forge World`s online store for release week commencing Monday May 1st, we have six Ryza pattern Leman Russ tank turrets: Vanquisher, Executioner, Exterminator, Annihilator, Demolisher and Leman Russ. These were previously available as part of complete Death Korps of Krieg tank kits but popular demand was SO popular that we have changed a few things around to make all six turrets available separately to Imperial Guard commanders and collectors. Now these great turret designs will be able to equip the armoured forces of Vostroyans, Cadians, Valhallans and Mordians to name but a few.

Final call for Games Day Canada reservations!
On Saturday May 5th, Forge World will be in the MTCC in Toronto for Games Day Canada. At a mega-busy show like this one, the Forge World sales stand can run out of things, sometimes very quickly indeed! If you want to be certain of getting the Forge World models you want on the day, please think seriously about placing a reservation order. Just send an email titled `Games Day Canada` to forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk telling us your name and a list of what you want to order by April 29th at the absolute latest. We'll confirm your order by email so you know we have it, then we ship it over there with your name all over it and then you just collect and pay for it during the day. What could be simpler?

How do you make your Death Korps of Krieg look realistic...

dress someone up and then take some photographs...

The Forgeworld Death Korps of Krieg infantry models are really excellent, well sculptured and beautifully designed.

How do you make your Death Korps of Krieg look realistic in the first place. Well it would seem that Forgeworld took one of their staff and dressed him up in some kit, a gas mask and gave him a old rifle.

Not a bad way of doing it, these are just some of the many photographs that were taken to give the poses a realistic look and feel.

Just shows how much work goes into these models.

Forgeworld Newsletter #172

really nice new super heavy tanks...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hi folks, and welcome to the 172nd Forge World Newsletter.

Firstly all here at Forge World would like to say a big `Thank-you!` to all the people who came along to what we hope to be just the first Forge World Open Day last weekend. From talking to people during the day and feedback we received later, the show was a great success, and what`s more, we enjoyed doing it too!

Our charity raffle to win a Warhound Titan was very popular and thanks to your generosity, Forge World raised over £600 for `Children In Need`! The lucky winner was Robert Daz and he took home a great big box with his new Mars pattern Warhound Titan inside.

The Forge World painting competition attracted quite a few entries with a broad selection of different model types for Mark Bedford and myself to look over and judge. After careful inspection and discussion, Mark and I both agreed that the winner was James Morton with his Death Korps of Krieg standard bearer.

We did set a couple of little `April Fool` tricks among the display models for fun. Some spotted the Death Korps of Krieg with his pet Guinea Pig while others noticed the `Bomb-bot` lurking in the cabinet. Oddly, no-one seemed to notice Tony`s joke hair-cut at all!

So what else went on? We helped run two themed games of 40K with the scenery set to re-create battles from Taros and Anphelion. There we used some of our display models alongside yours that you brought with you to fight scenarios from Imperial Armour Volumes 3 and 4.

We set up several games of `Aeronautica Imperialis`, both introductory games for the absolute beginner to try for the first time and scenarios to test the more advanced players. Perhaps most impressive was our 30`x20` 40K scale Aeronautica game! The guys in the Forge World Studio made faithful 40K sized copies of the bases, manoeuvre cards, smoke trails and the like, and we ended up with a great looking game that had people playing all day, even after the show had officially ended!

The Forge World Studio had several squadrons of Death Korps of Krieg Death Riders on show, (We even had a few for sale too, alongside the incredibly popular show-only Imperial Navy Pilot and Ork Skwadron Kommander!), concept sketches of future projects, pieces of work in progress and some completed new models like the `Malcador` tank that we haven’t even shown via the newsletter yet! We will be sharing all of these things and more with you all in the next few Forge World Newsletters, but if you just can`t wait, go and check out some of the 40K themed internet forums.

Thank-you` once again to all of you who came along and took part. Hopefully this will be something we can do again! Click here to see pictures of the day.

Thx,

Ewen Little
Forge World.

All New Imperial Guard Heavy Tank!

We`ve teased you for the last week or two about the existence of this beast, so here it is: The Imperial Guard Lucius pattern Macharius Heavy tank! Shown off for the first time at the Forge World Open Day by its designer Daren Parrwood, the Macharius was much admired and photographed. The limited number of pre-production castings we had sold out very quickly as commanders rushed to add the firepower of a heavy tank armed with TWO battlecannon in the turret to their armies. Complementing the main turret armament, the Macharius has a twin-linked heavy stubber in a gorgeous barbette-style mount. Something I really like here are the posts limiting the side-to-side traverse of the guns, preventing the gunner shooting his own vehicle in the heat of battle!

Other features I like on this model are the tracks. I love how much is actually out on show, the interesting shape of the fighting compartment too, and how it covers different amounts of the tracks. The main turret is a wonderful piece of design work with an enormous commander`s cupola to one side, heavy looking stowage bins on the rear and the massive mounts either side of the main guns.

The two side-sponsons can be armed with heavy bolters, heavy stubbers or heavy flamers, depending on what enemy you are planning on utterly destroying, all of which are supplied in the kit of course!
Also included are the two Death Korps crew shown, but this does not mean that the Macharius is only used by the Death Korps of Krieg, far from it! The Macharius is deployed by Cadian armoured regiments, Valhallan, Tallarn and Mordian to name but a few.

The rules for using the Macharius in games of 40K will soon be published in the next big Forge World book, `Imperial Armour Volume 5 – The Siege of Vraks, Part 1` which should be available sometime in May. More about that in another newsletter soon…

The Macharius is a lovely big tank kit and has just been made available for you to pre-order today for release in just over three weeks, being shipped out from Monday April 30th onwards. Pre-order your Macharius here.

New Additions to the Eldar Sky Host for `Aeronautica Imperialis`

The Vampire Hunter is the specialised ground attack variant of the Vampire Raider. It forgoes the transport capacity of it`s close cousin for additional heavy armament, and carries massive Pulsars and multiple Missile Launchers which give the Vampire Hunter the firepower to engage the heaviest of enemy targets.

In games of `Aeronautica Imperialis`, the Vampire Hunter is really not a nice craft to have to fight, not at all. Faster than every Imperial fighter and more manoeuvrable than something this big should be, the Vampire Hunter is a formidable foe indeed!

Protecting the movements of the Eldar war host from aerial attack is the responsibility of the crews of Eldar Firestorms, a function this potent weapon system can perform with hideous efficiency. Capable of filling the sky with up to nine attack dice worth of shots, the Eldar Firestorm is something best avoided or shot at from a respectful distance.

Both of these beautifully detailed Epic scale models are the work of Forge World designer and modelmaker Will Hayes, and are available to pre-order online today at the Forge World online store for release week commencing April 30th.

Forge World Shows & Events

Games Day France is getting very close, next weekend in fact! We plan on having both the show-only Imperial Navy Pilot and Ork Skwadron Kommander available there, so if you have not already sent us your reservation order, (Details on how to do this can be found here), please do so soon! We must receive it by 10am on Tuesday at the latest, okay? Any later and we will not have time to get it all packed up and shipped to Paris.

Salute! 2007 is only one week later so please get us any last minute reservations, like for the two pilots mentioned above, to us by 10am on Tuesday April 17th.

Games Day Atlanta and Games Day Canada are both very soon afterwards so think now about what you want us to reserve for you and let us know as soon as possible please.

Click on the links above to see some of the new models we should have for sale. We’ll carry on updating them as we get closer and closer to each event so do check back every few days.

Forgeworld Newsletter #171

nice Ork pilot...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hello everyone,

Hi everybody, and welcome to another issue of the Forge World Newsletter. In today's issue I will be revealing to you two great new 'Show Only' models that we have just made for the coming season of shows, events and Games days that Forge World will be attending. I'll be confirming which shows we'll be at for the next month or so, as well as providing links from our newly updated 'Events' page to the specific webpages for each event.
Thx,

Ewen Little
Forge World.

Pilots! Man, (Or Ork!), Your Aircraft!

Here at Forge World we always try to reward people for making that extra effort in coming to one of the events or shows that we attend. We always try to make sure we have a good display of lovely models to dribble over and a wide selection of stock for you to buy from. We also like to make the occasional quirky model, just for the fun of it, and take it along to these special shows for people to buy as a memento of the day.

Ladies and gentlemen, please feast your eyes on the Imperial Navy Thunderbolt Pilot and Ork Skwadron Kommander models! Inspired by the phenomenal success of our aerial combat game 'Aeronautica Imperialis', the finely detailed Imperial Navy Thunderbolt Pilot is the work of Simon Egan and the massive hulking Ork Skwadron Kommander has been designed and sculpted by Mark Bedford.

Available only at the shows that Forge World attends, both these fantastic models are bound to be very sought after. (P.S. We are hoping to have a very few available for sale at the Forge World Open Day this Sunday, see below for more details on that...)

The Hour Fast Approaches - Forge World Open Day, Sunday April 1st @ Warhammer World, Nottingham

We are just a few days away from the first ever Forge World Open Day! This Sunday, April 1st, Forge World will take over most of Warhammer World in Nottingham and spend the entire day showcasing exactly what we can offer to expand and supplement your hobby.

The entire Forge World Design Studio team will be there to show you what they are working on. Want to see what they’re up to? Come along! As well as themed games of 40K from the worlds of Taros and Anphelion that you can bring along your own models and join in with, we have several tables of Aeronautica Imperialis for you to try out and play.

I have just been told that we will have a significant section, if not ALL, of the eagerly awaited ‘Imperial Armour Volume 5 - The Siege of Vraks’ there for you to leaf through too!

At this exact moment in time I can neither confirm or deny the possibility that Forge World may, or may not, have Death Riders of Krieg on display, or sightings of a completely new super-heavy tank in the Forge World Design Studio. If such rumours were true, I suppose that there is a chance that we might have some pre-release models for sale too… To find out, you’ll have to come along on Sunday!

Are You Coming Along?

As entry to Warhammer World for the Forge World Open Day is completely free and were laying on a variety of interesting activities and attractions, it could be quite a busy day.

To help make sure we get our staffing and catering requirements right, if you are planning on coming to the Forge World Open Day, can we ask you to let us know by sending us a blank email to FWopenday@games-workshop.co.uk with how many people will be coming in your party in the title?

I have been reminded to mention that Bugman’s bar will be open and ready to refresh and refuel those in need of a drink or a bite to eat all day and they will be serving from a full lunch menu from 12-3pm.

Forge World Painting Competition

Remember we’ll be running a special painting competition on the day too. The rules are very simple. Models entered into the competition must be made by Forge World or contain parts made by Forge World and the competition is open to anyone except employees of Games Workshop. Most importantly, the judges’ decision is final. The judges will be looking for the best painted and most characterful representation of a Forge World model.

Judging will be made by multi-Golden Demon winner and Forge World Designer Mark Bedford and myself, Ewen Little, winner of nothing, but long time judge of the prestigious Forge World Best of Show award at Games Days around the world.

The winner will be presented with a rather nice trophy we’re having made up, and have their winning entry photographed and displayed on our website for the world to admire.
Reservations and Buying Stuff

The Forge World sales stand will be in its usual place in the main hall where we should have examples of all our newest kits and models on display for you to drool over and take a much closer look at.

Anything that you might want to buy we will get picked and packed from our warehouse that day but if you want to place a reservation order to collect on the day without waiting, please just send us an email titled Reservation order to FWopenday@games-workshop.co.uk containing your name and a list of what you’d like us to have ready for you to collect. Alternatively, give Simon, Alan or Stuart a quick call on the phone and they`ll be happy to take care of that for you too. Please get your reservations in to us by the later time of 12pm Thursday March 29th so we can get them all picked and packed up for you.

`Children In Need` Charity Raffle - Win a Warhound Titan

If you`re feeling lucky and would like to give a little money to a worthwhile cause at the same time, we`ll be holding a charity raffle to be drawn at the end of the day. A mere £1 per ticket will enter you into the draw to win a Mars pattern Warhound Titan worth £280! Every single penny raised by the raffle competition will be given to the charity `Children In Need` so please buy some tickets and you could go home with a huge Titan model under your arm and a warm glow from helping out kids in less fortunate circumstances.

Games Day France - Sunday April 15th @ Le Stade De France, Paris
Forge World's 2007 world tour kicks off properly in Paris at the world famous Stade de France for Games Day France on Sunday April 15th. This is always one of the highlights of my year as the atmosphere at this busy event is just great and the standard of the painted models entered into the Golden Demon painting competition here in France is amazing. Forge World will also be looking through all the Golden Demon entries for the best painted example of a Forge World model. The talented individual whose model is chosen by our judges will win the special ‘Forge World Best In Show’ award, just like these lucky previous award winners here.

As this is such a busy show, if you want to be sure of getting the Forge World models you want at Games Day, may we suggest placing a reservation order? Just send an email titled 'Games Day France' to forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk telling us your name and a list of what you want to order. We shall reply a few days later with your order number and then you just collect and pay for it anytime during the day. This means you do not have to carry big bags of model kits around all day and you do not have to wait for us to pick your order!

Games Day Atlanta - Saturday April 28th @ GICC, Atlanta
A few days later, Forge World will scream over the Atlantic to the Georgia International Convention Centre for Games Day Atlanta on Saturday April 28th. This is the first of four visits to the USA that Forge World will be making during this busy show season. Last year, Games Day Atlanta was the place I decided to enter one of my own painted models into the GW Staff Golden Demon category. I got HAMMERED by those guys! Still, Games Day Atlanta is a great show for Forge World to attend and I'm looking forward to meeting up with all you folks coming along again.

Same as the previous two shows, we cannot bring absolutely everything with us to Games Day Atlanta, though I will try! So if you want to be certain of getting the Forge World models you want at Games Day Atlanta I must recommend placing a reservation order. Just send an email titled 'Games day Atlanta' to forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk telling us your name and a list of what you want to order. We shall reply a few days later with your order number and then you just collect and pay for it during the day. It's as simple as that folks.

Salute! 2007 - Saturday April 21st @ ExCel, London
Less than one week later Forge World will be at Salute! 2007 which is back at the excellent ExCel venue. I love how easy it is to wander around one huge hall, stuffed to the roof with models, kits, games and all the paraphernalia that goes along with our hobby!

Now at Salute! 2007, the Forge World sales stand isn't as huge as some we use, and so we cannot bring absolutely everything with us. As a result, if you want to be certain of getting the Forge World models you want at Salute! 2007 I strongly recommend placing a reservation order. Just send an email titled 'Salute! 2007' to forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk telling us your name and a list of what you want to order. We shall reply a few days later with your order number and then you just collect and pay for it during the day.

Games Day Canada - Saturday May 5th @ MTCC, Toronto
If I've any energy left at all, another Games Day one week later should finish me off. On Saturday May 5th, Forge World will be in the MTCC in Toronto for Games Day Canada. This will only be my second trip to Toronto and this event but I really enjoyed myself last year and cannot wait to share another great day with you all at Games Day.

Final mention for today, at a mega-busy show like this, we can run out of things, sometimes very quickly. If you want to be certain of getting the Forge World models you want at Games Day Canada, please think seriously about placing a reservation order. Just send an email titled 'Games day Atlanta' to forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk telling us your name and a list of what you want to order. We'll reply a few days later with your order number, we ship it over there with your name all over it and then you just collect and pay for it during the day. What could be simpler?

Forge World Newsletter #170

chaos renegade things...

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Newsletter 170 and the Renegades have taken over Forge World! Today we have the much-anticipated release of the Renegade Ogryn Berserkers, along with even more corruption in the shape of the Renegade Militia Artillery Crew and Renegade Sabre Platforms, as well as some great new painted examples of our existing Militia.

In this newsletter you can also find more information about our forthcoming Forge World Open Day event on the 1st of April at Warhammer World, and no it`s not an April Fools!

Alan Bligh
Forge World.

Brute Savagery

Newly spawned from the twisted imagination of Mark Bedford are the Renegade Ogryn Berserkers for Warhammer 40K. A great addition to our Renegade Militia forces, (full details and rules for which will be found in the next volume of Imperial Armour), these bestial fighters can equally be used to represent Big Mutants for your Lost & Damned army, Ogryn troops for Traitor Guard armies, as well as making a characterful addition for a regular Imperial Guard army or Penal Legion force with a little extra effort to convert them.

There are five individual Ogryn models in total; each with a unique industrial style two-handed weapon, (pickaxe, hammer, sledge hammer and, well …lamppost & concrete block) and their number includes one even larger Boss model with an augmentic power drill replacing his entire arm. These hulking multi-part models are extensively detailed with tattered hoods, improvised armour plates, ragged blades, crude implants, breather pipes and chem-injector rigs, as well as the scars and stigmata that mark their corruption.

These Ogryns have been causing a stir among Chaos players and collectors alike ever since the first sketches for them were previewed last year, and personally I think the end results more than live up to expectations, and in fact I’ve already succumbed to temptation regarding these monsters myself!
The Renegade Ogryn Berserkers are available for pre-order NOW for release from the 2nd April onwards both individually and as a special set of five. We’re also hoping to have a limited number for sale at our Forge World Open Day on April 1st.

New Pictures of Painted Renegade Militia Models

By following the link Here you can find some new pictures of painted examples of our Renegade Militia range made using the Cadian Shock Trooper plastics as a base and painted by John Carter (Warlord of Mars). He`s chosen a dark and corrupted industrial feel of rusted iron, greys and browns for his paint scheme, although of course there are many ways in which you could model and paint your own renegade forces.

More Renegade Releases

Further rounding out the releases for the Renegade Militia this newsletter are our new Renegade Militia Artillery Crew and Renegade Sabre Platforms. The artillery crew feature three new models and can be used in conjunction with our other models such as the Heavy Mortar, Earthshaker Platform etc or even as crewmembers for a standard Basilisk. The Renegade Sabre Platforms (available in Autocannon, Lascannon, Heavy Bolter and the infantry-shredding quad Heavy Stubber configurations) really give your forces the option for the addition of some serious extra firepower and air defence. These new releases stack up with our other renegades allowing you a wide range of options for your army, and are easily adaptable for a force or collection using the rules found in the Imperial Guard Codex or the Lost & Damned army list, or of course the forces you will find in our forthcoming Imperial Armour Volume Five.

These new renegade releases are available to pre-order NOW for release commencing the 2nd April.

Forge World Open Day - Sunday April 1st
