Sat - October 20, 2007GamesDay 2007 Limited Editionwell it is an orc...
I have always felt that if I pay £25 for a
ticket into GamesDay I should get at least one miniature
free.
Back in the good old days I do remember getting a goody bag, one which sticks in my mind contained a free Kroot sprue. Now I know I could queue for (what seems like an age) and try one of the modelling stands and get some free plastic miniatures, but this year the queues were horrendous, last year I made a tree stand. Every year (for a fair few years now) Games Workshop have released a limited edition Games Day miniature which is an additional cost to the price of the ticket. By the way does it count as a limited edition if you can buy last years limited edition at this year's show at a discount! This year's limited edition was an orc and a goblin, and yes I did buy it.
I am intending to use it with my feral orks, looks like a nice model. Posted at 04:02 PM | | Mon - October 15, 2007Grot with Toolboxnice little model, not available much
longer...
As well as the Ork Stormboyz Nob and Grot Oiler
which I got at Warhammer World last month, I also got a Grot with Toolbox which
is from the collectors range.
As you may now already GW are changing their mail order procedures and ranges which means that these older collectors' models may no longer be available in the future.
Get them now while you can, this is one of my favourite models from that range. Posted at 08:24 PM | | Sat - October 13, 2007Grot Oilermail order direct only...
As well as the Ork Stormboyz Nob which I got at
Warhammer World last month, I also got the Grot Oiler which is a mail order
direct only model as well.
Very nice little model which will eventually be found on one of my Ork vehicles or the new Ork Trukk which comes out in January. Posted at 08:53 AM | | Thu - September 20, 2007Ork Stormboyz Nobin the blister...
One of my Ork units I do like are my Stormboyz
(even despite Simon calling them the Lipstick Boyz) however they are leaderless,
until now!
Games Workshop do produce a Stormboyz Nob, however it is only available by mail order and not from their shops. So when I was up in Nottingham recently I did get the Stormboyz Nob when I visited Warhammer World.
It is a nice model and will certainly give my Stormboyz mob a bit more punch. Posted at 09:00 PM | | Mon - August 13, 2007Finishing offmy Ork Bommer...
I purchased my Ork Bommer way back in 2003 at GamesDay and I am still
working on it nearly four years later, though it did spend some time as an Epic Transport plane
for a while...
It has taken a while but I have now finished the base coat...
You can see how (poorly) I filled the gaps in the model, however this is an Orky plane and I wouldn't expect it to be perfect!
The next stage will be to give the whole thing a ink and paint wash.
I must get the Traktor painted as well for it. Fighter Bommer Workbench feature. Posted at 08:27 AM | | Tue - August 7, 2007Ork Bommerstill getting there...
I have made some more
progress with my Ork Bommer.
The under view.
It is getting there, but I keep getting sidetracked! Posted at 08:47 AM | | Fri - August 3, 2007Ork Looted Rhinofinished the base
colour...
I decided looking at my Ork Looted Rhino that I
really ought to finish the basecoat. Here is the Ork Rhino as it was. Just the
side and front plate needed doing.
This actually took me less time then I thought it would. Here it is with the hatch off and the rear ramp down.
Next will be to give it a wash of dark ink with some paint to offset the gloss of the ink. Here it is "closed down" with the hatch on and ramp up. The hatch was scratchbuilt.
Another view.
More.
Some more work to do. See how I got to this stage on the main workbench feature. Posted at 09:31 PM | | Tue - June 19, 2007Ork with Rokkit Launchaadded more red...
Having used foundation paints for the basecoat of
the Ork Rokkits I then painted them with normal citadel
colour.
It seems to work as advertised, which is nice. Posted at 08:35 AM | | Sat - June 9, 2007Ork with Rokkit Launchamore use of the Citadel Foundation
Paints...
This is my Ork with Rokkit
Launcha.
As you can see I have (again) used Citadel's new Foundation Paints to paint the rokkits, they still need highlighting and other things done, but the red does cover the black undercoat quite easily. Posted at 06:35 PM | | Fri - June 8, 2007Ork with Big Shootastarted getting the skin
together...
This is one of my conversions,
an Ork with a Big Shoota. The Ork has had his Shoota extended with barrel of
another Shoota to make a Big Shoota.
I started off with a black undercoat and then do all the metallic bitz with a drybrush of tin bitz and chainmail. I then do all the Ork skin with a dark green, usually Snot Green.
I then highlighted with Goblin Green before doing final highlights with a mixture of Goblin Green and Bleached Bone.
Still some way to go... Posted at 08:51 PM | | Thu - June 7, 2007Ork Wartrakkongoing...
This is where I last left my Ork Wartrakk with
converted tracks and searchlight.
I have now painted the seat.
Once I have painted some of the stowage, I am going to give the bodywork a wash of Chestnut Ink and a small amount of Scorched Brown to reduce the glossy effect of the ink. Posted at 02:41 PM | | Wed - June 6, 2007Ork Kommando with Burnataking it out of the
blister...
The Ork Kommando with Burna comes as two
castings.
The actual model comprises four components, the main body, a backpack and the two arms, one of which has the actual burna.
Fitting the model together was relatively easy, the arms fitted well and there are only minimal gaps which need filling.
At the moment I am not sure whether to attach the backpack now or later.
Next stage will be using green stuff to fill the gaps. Posted at 09:50 PM | | Sat - June 2, 2007Ork Looted Rhinomore progress made...
I have done some more work on my Ork Looted
Rhino.
This is the opposing view.
I still have to paint some more of the detail black and finish off the brown basecoat. I will then give it a wash and a drybrush before adding more detail. See my workbench feature on my Ork Looted Rhino. Posted at 10:30 PM | | Fri - June 1, 2007First use of Foundation Paints - Ork with Rokkit Launchajust a bit of red...
This is the first time I used the new Citadel
Foundation Paints on a miniature. I painted the rokkit cone of one of my Orks
with a Rokkit Launcha using the red.
The paints seemed rather thick, but did cover well (it does what it says on the tin). I then tried other paints on some other Orks. I think they are going to be useful for the miniatures I use a black undercoat on. Posted at 08:41 AM | | Thu - May 31, 2007Painting more of the Ork Looted Rhinomade some more progress...

already...
When I got my XXX White Dwarf figure I purchased an
Ork Kommando with Burna as I wanted the figure to go with my Ork
Kommandos.
What I had forgotten was I had purchased the very same figure in March! Doh! Ah well so I have two now. So that means more than one way to burn Imperial Guard tanks! Posted at 09:06 PM | | Mon - March 19, 2007Ork Kommando with Burnahere's the blister...
Though I am still not that far ahead in painting my
Kommandos, I got the blister pack with the Ork Kommando with
Burna.
This is a nice model and I am impressed with the sculpting and casting. Posted at 02:44 PM | | Mon - March 12, 2007Ork Kommando with Burnaextra reinforcements...
Though I am still not that far ahead in painting my
Kommandos, I got the blister pack with the Ork Kommando with Burna today in
Glasgow.
This is a nice model and I am impressed with the sculpting and casting. I got chatting with the manager and he was talking about the new Ork vehicle(s) that *may* be released next year. He talked about how the vehicle uses a single chassis, but you can use multiple chassis to build bigger Ork vehicles such as a Battlewagon. It will be interesting to see how Games Workshop pulll this off, I can't quite seeing how this would work myself, but I guess that it will work. Posted at 09:08 PM | | Tue - February 20, 2007Ork Wartrakka work in progress
update...
This is an Ork Wartrakk I have been working
on.
As you can see I have been using some of the Ork glyphs from Forgeworld, which are really really thick. Posted at 10:56 AM | | Tue - February 13, 2007Grot Bomb Launchagetting it together...
This is in fact my second Grot Bomb Launcha and I
have a third in a box. The first one is finished
though.
This stage shows the main resin parts and wartrakk with a white undercoat.
This is the firing ramp completed.

model...
This model is an original Ork Biker from
Gorkamorka, so has a lot of metal parts compared to the current (yet old)
completely plastic kit. After sticking the model together I gave it a white
undercoat. I then painted the metal parts
black.
Here is the bike complete with rider.

Ork Biker - Jimbo's Workbench feature Posted at 10:30 AM | | Fri - February 9, 2007Wed - February 7, 2007Ork Boyzwork in progress...
Here is a work in progress photograph of some of my
Ork Boyz.
These ones are well on their way to been finished. Posted at 09:20 PM | | Mon - February 5, 2007Ork Stormboyzhow they were painted...
I have recently updated the workbench
feature on my Ork Stormboyz. Here is a work in progress shot of four
of the Stormboyz.
Skin tones were done in the same style as my other Orks. The bases have been done, and the uniform (unlike my other Ork Boyz who wear grey) is been done in shades of brown. Here is a rear view, you can see that I have used the Warhammer Fantasy Orc sprue on the first and third Orks from the left.
Another view of the rear view.
Posted at 09:53 PM | | Sun - February 4, 2007Ork with Rokkit Launchaconversion...
I converted this plastic Ork to carry a Rokkit
Launcha, you can see the earlier stages on my workbench
feature. At this stage I am finishing off the painting, as you can see
the teeth need a little more work.
Using highlights to emphasise the strapping.
Basically the conversion consists of using a Shoota and sticking in a grenade from the Stormboyz set. I also used one of the Stormboyz heads. Posted at 07:26 PM | | |
