Ultramarines Dreadnoughts

on display in Warhammer World...

Some very nice Ultramarines Dreadnoughts on display at Warhammer World.



To the right of this pic (cropped as it was blurred, but you can see the shoulder) was the GW Venerable Dreadnought, which compared to the really nice Forgeworld models is horrible. It even looks like extra metal parts added to the standard Dreadnought.

So if you are in the market for a Venerable Dreadnought, spend the extra money and get yourself a really nice resin version from Forgeworld.

Thunderhawk Gunship

This is the cockpit of a Space Marine Thunderhawk Gunship.



The Space Marine flyer is from a demonstration game at GamesDay 2006. Here is one of the engines.



Though I am not a fan of the gunship I do quite like the transporter variant.

Mk IV Venerable Dreadnought

the Forgeworld version...

Mk IV Venerable Dreadnought



It is part of Mike Sharpe's Space Wolves army, which was on show at GamesDay 2006.

It is a Forgeworld model, the Citadel Venerable Dreadnought is awful as it basically consists of the plastic kit (which is nice) and then cover it in metal parts. It just looks like they are stuck on (which they are), whereas the Forgeworld model looks more "real" in comparison.

There were what seemed like over a hundred tanks, many of which were Forgeworld kits or conversion kits. It also included loads of Marines, Thunderhawks and Drop Pods.

Space Wolves Space Marine Razorback

the plastic version...

This is the Space Wolves Space Marine Razorback from part of Mike Sharpe's superb Space Wolves army, which was on show at GamesDay 2006.



Compare this to the Forgeworld version of the Razorback with the much bigger turret which I posted a picture of yesterday, which I much prefer over the plastic kit version that you get in the shops. The problem I have is that the turret is really small.

As it is only £2 more now, I think the Forgeworld version is much better value for money.

This is the Forgeworld version of the Razorback with the much bigger turret, which I much prefer over the plastic kit version that you get in the shops. As it is only £2 more now, I think the Forgeworld version is much better value for money.

Though you would get some spare parts with the plastic version...

Space Marine Vindicator Assault Tank

This is the Mark IIB pre-heresey Land Raider.



It is part of Mike Sharpe's superb Space Wolves army, which was on show at GamesDay 2006.

The model is available from Forgeworld and is a very nice kit. I have one but have not yet started it. It is based on the plastic Land Raider kit, and the model is very similar to the Epic Land Raider.

I photographed quite a few photos of Mike's army when I was at GamesDay as seen on the blog and on the Warhammer 40K Space Marine miniatures gallery.



I found out in this month's (January 2007) UK White Dwarf review of GamesDay the owner of the collection, I can't recall seeing details on the day.

It's an impressive army.
