Warhammer Chapel

one of the new plastic buildings from Games Workshop...

I was lucky to receive one of the new Warhammer plastic buildings for a present (thanks Simon). I have mentioned in previous posts how impressed I was with the new buildings.

It was the chapel.

In the "A4" sized box you get two sprues with all the parts and extras on them.

One part I did particularly like was the clock.

This looks like it will be quite a substantial kit, as the plastic parts are quite thick compared to other plastic building kits I have made in the past. There will also be quite a few extra parts which I will be able to use on other models as well.

I hope we see more building kits in the future, it would be nice to see some more accompanying buildings as well as Orc or Elven constructions as well.

Looking forward to making this one up.

Forgeworld Epic Ruined Librarium

final stages...

I have done the final stages of my Forgeworld Epic Ruined Librarium.

After drybrushing with Fortress Grey, I added a much lighter drybrush of Skull White.

The other view.

This is a very nice model.

Forgeworld Epic Ruined Librarium

actually did some more painting...

I purchased a Forgeworld Epic Ruined Librarium some time ago, and despite undercoating it I hadn't touched it for a while.

For some reason I decided to try and finish it. First stage following the black undercoat was to give it a heavy drybrush of Codex Grey.

This covered most of the model.

Next stage was to drybrush with a lighter gray, Fortress Grey.

New Warhammer Trees

look like plastic model trees...

The other day I popped into Games Workshop in Cribbs Causeway and managed to have a really good look at the new Warhammer buildings as I posted earlier.

I also managed to have a good look at the new plastic trees.

I will say I was not impressed!

They look like plastic model trees.

I am sure that some will like them, but they are plastic model trees!

Saw the Warhammer Buildings in the "flesh"

and the Chaos ruins as well...

Yesterday I popped into Games Workshop in Cribbs Causeway and managed to have a really good look at the new Warhammer buildings. The shop had constructed theirs and had given it a black undercoat. They had constructed the fortified manor house, which consists of the tower, the chapel and a joining section.

It is a very nice model, however it was smaller than I thought it would be, but there are some really nice details.

It looks like it will be nice to paint, but may need some texture to bring out the fact it is in fact stone and not plastic!

The details are nice and include swivel guns, skulls and has a range of options.

I also had a good look at the chaos temple ruins which are very nice and look like they can be used equally with Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40000. You get quite a bit of ruin and I personally thought it wasn't bad value for £15. I think I would have preferred it in resin over plastic and like the buildings would benefit from a stone texture.

Overall I was impressed with both plastic kits.

Warhammer buildings will be released (in the UK) on the 26th May

buildings but only as a boxed set to begin with...

The Warhammer buildings which I mentioned in a previous posting will be released (in the UK) on the 26th of May as a whole box set costing £75.

The first release for the new Warhammer Scenery, this set gives you a fantastic amount of scenery ot use in your games of Warhammer. This set contains the following items: 1 Fortified Manor, 1 Watchtower, 1 Chapel and 3 sets of Walls and fences. Not only does this save you £27 off buying the items individually, you also get the Watchtower and Chapel over a month before those items are released by themselves!!!

I do like these buildings and I am very tempted.

Warhammer Fantasy Plastic Buildings

really nice forthcoming models...

These are the upcoming new Warhammer Fantasy Buildings which Games Workshop will be releasing at some point in the future. There seem to be three buildings and there will also be a release of other terrain such as hills, fences and graveyards.

This is a boxed set looking like it contains both buildings, lots of other scenery and even the hills.

These are the other two buildings, which will be available as separate boxed sets.

I do quite like these, they don't really fit in with my Steve Barber models, but they are nice.

Urban Barricades and Walls

nice resin scenery from Games Workshop...

When Games Workshop released Cities of Death, they released a set of resin Urban Barricades and Walls. Unlike the Urban Basing Kit it is still available at the time of writing.

You got six barricades and they blended in nicely with the plastic ruins which were also released with Cities of Death.

They are very well detailed.

You can see and read more on my workbench feature.

Urban Basing Kit

nice idea, pity it's no longer available...

When Games Workshop released Cities of Death, they released an Urban Basing Kit. This box set contains 2 pots of slate, 2 pots of resin details and 1 pot of razorwire that can be used to decorate the bases of your miniatures or cityfight buildings.

I managed to get one of the kits, which sadly was a limited edition and is now no longer available. I first created a large 40mm round base.

I then tried a 60mm Dreadnought base.

Space Marine Control Centre

Space Marine Control Centre.

In the ruins of an Imperial building... Seems lucky that though the majority of the building was destroyed, the control centre is still intact and operational.

Actually it is a nice model and this is by one of the Design Studio scenery people, though I can't remember exactly who, I know it wasn't Dave Andrews.

Photographed at GamesDay 2006.

White Dwarf Battle Report Buildings

White Dwarf Logofantastic fantasy scenery from the talented hands of Dave Andrews...

In the most recent UK White Dwarf, issue 325, January 2007, was a battle report.

Battle Report: March of the Damned: We take two of Warhammer game's toughest characters and pitch them headlong into mortal combat with one another. Will the evil of Manfred Von Carstein win out, or will the nobility of Kurt Helborg take the day?

This battle report featured three superb fantasy buildings, alas though they were shown in a few photographs, they were quite difficult to see. It was promised that more would be seen in the next issue of White Dwarf.

I was lucky to take photographs of all three buildings at GamesDay 2006. So here they are a month before White Dwarf.

I have posted two of the buildings before on the blog.

The buildings are from the talented hands of Dave Andrews and include this observatory.

A wonderful boat building combination.

Also a building with some wierd undead type thing on the roof.

They are really well done and very Warhammer'ish.

Pity that we won't see Forgeworld versions!

Scenery Tiles Update with Pictures

pictures of work so far...

Having stuck some small stones and cork onto the boards last May....

I stuck down some ripped up textured wallpaper.

You can see the cork bark I used in these pictures.

I then used a polyfilla white glue (PVA) mix to seal down the edges.
