WHAT PEOPLE SAY "James Edwards' Hoffmann was robust of tone, but generally well controlled and with plenty of expressive phrasing, a good combination of attributes' OPERA Rian Evans December 2008 Edition 'James Edward’s victimised Novice is truly touching' THE STAGE, David Blewitt 'James Edwards sang the title role (hoffmann) with plenty of fervour, with the lyricism for the dreamy fellow and the strength for Offenbach's characteristic passionate rising sequences' OPERA NOW Robert Thicknesse Jan 2009 'James Edwards was a pure toned Pinkerton, emotionally careless until too late...' EVENING STANDARD Fiona Maddocks 'James Edwards simply shone as Albazar and deserves mention for his arresting performance as the young shepherd Nikolios' musicomh.com Dominic McHugh "James Edwards nimmt als Albert Herring vom ersten Kräuterabwiegen an mit samtig weicher Kantilene für sich ein. Er wandelt sich, ohne stimmlich oder darstellerisch zu forcieren, zum selbstbewussten jungen Mann" Der Standard (Wiener) “In scenes from Act II of Rossini’s
Otello, tenor James Edwards in the title role profited from an Italianate
ring
to the top of his voice...” "Und Albert (Herring) selbst? Die Musik zeichnet ihn als tiefschichtige Figur, er ist einer, der immer wieder über sich nachdenkt und monologisiert - und dann zeigt sich das Muttersöhnchen als sehr vital: Der Aus- und Aufbruch in die normale, sündhafte Welt kommt nicht unerwartet. James Edwards kostet das stimmlich und darstellerisch aus." Wiener Zeitung 'James Edwards, singing Hoffmann, produced some lovely tenor singing: a full-throated sound, well supported throughout and hardly a sign of strain throughout a long evening's sing' musicalcriticism.com 'James Edwards is a fine Pinkerton' METRO LONDON Warwick Thompson Last Updated on June 2, 2009 JADE ™ DISCLAIMER: Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the services and web content of this site, James Edwards accepts no responsibility for any use made of the information provided and he shall not be liable for any loss suffered thereby.
