Fri - March 9, 2007Back in Business!!OK, I think I got everything fixed so
that all the images show up where they are supposed to. Not too sure what
happened, so I just rebuilt the files. What a pain! It's funny how the little
things make me crazy . . . stuff like this. It's just that my blog is getting
lots of hits each day, and I want it to look good! So, hopefully all is
well!Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day, and keep checking back. I have
lots to blog, in between wedding album designing!
Posted at 12:09 PM Thu - March 8, 2007Help! Missing Photos!!!So I don't know what's going on, some of
the photos are gone from my entries. Stay tuned, I'll get it fixed
soon!!
Thanks for your patience! Posted at 10:43 PM Mon - March 5, 2007Alex is Goin' Places!
For one thing, she's going to USC this
fall! But before that, she wanted some really unique photos at the train
station! So, after several tries that got rained out, we finally had a nice day.
She looked beautiful in her dress, and we had a lot of fun during the session!
Her mom and grandmother came along, too, and they made sure she looked terrific
all the time! Thank you, Alex, for such a great idea for a photo session! It's
really nice for us to be able to work with lots of people and help them achieve
their vision . . . and yours is definitely super creative! Here is your slideshow!
Posted at 06:06 PM Sun - March 4, 2007Are you a musician?????. . . .or know someone who is? If so,
I'd like to know! I am looking for some music for my website and blog. Most of
the royalty-free stuff is, um . . . not very good (to be polite). Plus, I would
rather support someone I know or at least have some knowledge of! So . . . . if
you can help, shoot me an email. I will give the musician full
credit for the music, and add a link to his/her website or email. Our website
and blog is getting hundreds of hits each week, so this could be another way to
get your music heard!
Posted at 02:25 PM Website Update!I have made some significant changes to
my website, hopefully all good ones! There are new galleries and portfolios and
the "look" is brand new. I ended up doing it myself after trying some
pre-designed templates that didn't end up working out so well. Check it out
here.
Posted at 12:45 PM Thu - March 1, 2007Time For A Tan!Sure, this is sunny California, but have
you noticed that it's been cold? As in too cold to lay out and get a tan! Well,
we have some special friends at Sunset Tan right here in Upland. Be the envy of
your friends and feel great about yourself! If you are getting married soon, you
will want to look especially radiant, so give them a call! I'm putting them in
the "Our Friends Who Can Help You!" section of my blog because I love to share
great places for you to go! Their number is:

And no, I don't receive any commissions for saying any of this. I just want you
to know about them! Click here for their Blog.
Posted at 07:12 PM Meet Logan! When Logan came in for his senior
portraits, we could tell right away we were going to have fun! He has a great
smile, and a terrific personality. He plays water polo, which takes an amazing
amount of physical fitness! It was really nice to
meet his parents, too. You can see they
are very proud of him. He's got a great future after high school, and we wish
him all the best! Thank you, Logan, for coming to our studio! Here is your slideshow!
Posted at 10:09 AM Tue - February 27, 2007A New Wedding Experience!!Last Friday I had the honor (and fun!)
of photographing a wedding at a location I had not been to: the Riverside County
Courthouse. What a beautiful building! It was built in the early 1900's and was
recently completely renovated and
restored to its original beauty. Here's a photo from the front (using my fisheye lens, so the perspective looks a bit warped. I could have fixed it in Photoshop, but I sort of like it as it is!) Here's a shot of the happy family arriving for the wedding. I had photographed mom and her kids in the studio last fall, so it was really nice to see them again for the wedding . . .
They were surrounded by family and friends to celebrate their special day and their relationship. There was a great feeling there of love and support:
You can also see some of the beauty inside the building. Beautiful woodwork all around. The guards were nervous about people with cameras (I am guessing a Homeland Security thing), so I couldn't take too many photos inside, but I got what I could! Posted at 05:58 PM Fri - February 16, 2007New Website Coming !!!I am really excited to announce that we
are working on a new and improved website. Hopefully it will go live within a
week! Up until now we've been relying on my own web building skills. But there
is simply not enough time to learn the skills I need to keep the site fresh,
exciting and easy for people to use. So, we are outsourcing it! One of my main
New Year's resolutions this year was to quit being such a control freak and let
others take on some of the load. Having someone else do the website design is an
example. This will free me to do other things as the studio grows! Check back
to see how progress is coming on the website!
Posted at 01:44 PM Tue - February 13, 2007Kat's Portfolio Session!
Here's Kat! She came to the studio so we
could do some photos for her portfolio. We had lots of fun, as you can see by
looking at a short slideshow of some of the
images from the session. We actually took a lot more photographs, but too many
to put in a slideshow for the web! Thank you, Kat for coming in! Enjoy the
show!Posted at 02:28 PM Sat - February 10, 2007Look at All Those Macs!![]() Yeah,
well, I am a Mac junkie. I'll admit it. So while I was a mentor in Pasadena this
week at the Professional Photographer's Convention, I was thrilled to be
surrounded by so many Apple
computers! We had 24 in all! Wow! It was a fun week, I'm back home now and
looking forward to getting back in the studio on Monday. I have lots of albums
to design for our wedding clients!
Posted at 07:07 PM A Great Lesson on How to Run a Business!
During a break from the Professional
Photographer's Convention, I walked around Pasadena a bit, looking for some
coffee. I found this great place on the corner of Colorado and Marengo. It's
tiny, but that only added to the charm. The coffee there is really, really good.
They have a coffee menu, and you pay not by the size of the drink, but by how
many shots of espresso you order! What a novel idea! So if you order an
Americano, 3 shots in a big cup is the same price as 3 shots in a small cup.
This may not seem like a big thing, but it struck me as sort of a novel idea.
The friendly person who helped me said there is no reason to charge customers
for water to fill the cup!I guess the reason this impressed me was that this is how I try to run my photography business. It's so important to me to know that our clients receive exactly what they want and can use! When people ask about the price of our photography, I try to emphasize the VALUE of their investment. Which, when you think about it, is like saying "Get the most bang for your buck!" We are looking for good value, and we want to know that someone is actually listening to what we want to purchase! I always try to take the extra time to listen to what our clients want . . . really listen! It's a much more fun way to run a business instead of only thinking about the "bottom line" and how much something costs. My business offers a total, client-centered experience that is unique . . . kind of like the little coffee shop on the corner in Pasadena! Posted at 06:10 AM Thu - February 8, 2007Here in Pasadena!
So this week I am in Pasadena working at
the Professional Photographer's of California Convention. It's always a great
time because we get to see people from all over California that we don't get to
see too often. It's also great to be able to attend classes as well as teach.
Photographers from California and even other states are here, and we are all
learning from each other! I'll post more when I get another internet connection.
Have a great day, everyone!Posted at 01:17 PM Mon - February 5, 2007We Photographed the President! Here is Taylor, the Student Body
President! He is an amazing athlete, and a great guy! He came to the studio last
week for his senior photos. It was our pleasure to photograph him. So here's to
the Prez . . . have a great rest of the year, and thank you for coming to our
studio! You can see a couple of more photos of Taylor on our website by clicking
here.
