My Aquarium
Most of the
work I've done recently at the Classroom of the Future (COTF) is CD/DVD-based
multimedia, so I don't have too many samples on the Web. The only sample
of my COTF work publicly available on the Web right now is a Shockwave
demo of an ExoQuest™ module, listed below. There's also Star 3D,
which is not available on the Web, but was done in Shockwave. The rest
of the items listed below are things I've done on my own.
InSight
InSight is a multimedia curriculum supplement for vision science and experimental psychology.
InSight is NOW available in an all-new, improved, better-than-ever cross-platform version. (Turns out there are some educators out there running an operating systems called "Windows." Who knew?) If you are one of the many loyal users of InSight that have been asking me for an updated, cross-platform version, your wait is finally over. If you've never used InSight, you're in for a real treat.
InSight is published by Wadsworth. It is bundled with E. Bruce Goldstein's Sensation and Perception text and also sold in a stand-alone version.

Digital Filter 3.0 for Mac OS X
Digital Filter illustrates the power of Fourier analysis and demonstrates how it can be used to understand how the visual system processes information about shapes and forms. Digital Filter performs Fourier analyses, digital filtering, and quantization on gray scale and color images. Images can be any size, limited only by available memory.
This is my second attempt at writing a Carbon application, but my first serious attempt. I converted the old Pascal version (see below) to C and Carbonized it. It's also my first attempt at writing AltiVec code. The difference that AltiVec makes is amazing! This program is available for MacOS X 10.1 and later only. It requires a G4 or G5 Macintosh.

Finder O' Keys
A while back there was this great utility called KeyFinder that was packaged with Norton. It showed ASCII, hex, and decimal values for all characters. Very useful when programming. Since there is no OS X version or anything comparable that I could find, and since I wanted to learn how to program for Carbon, I wrote this. It's my first attempt at writing a Carbon application. This program is available for MacOS X only.

ExoQuest
This is a Shockwave demo of the software simulation portion of one ExoQuest activity module, Ocean on Europa. The demo's graphics have been compressed for faster download and are not representative of the product's graphics.

Star 3D
Star 3D a little simulation program I wrote back in 1994 for the Astronomy Village® project. I wrote it as a Mac OS program using the Mac OS's built-in, undocumented 3D engine, Graf3D. (Yes, you could do 3D on the Mac in 1994!) Now that Astronomy Village is being updated, a cross-platform version of this program was needed, so I converted it to Shockwave 3D.

Stereogram Maker Pro
Stereogram Maker Pro is a little program that will generate random-element stereograms from any grayscale picture. All you have to do is provide the grayscale picture (just about any will do, so long as it doesn't contain a lot of very thin lines) and in the blink of an eye (more or less) you will have a lovely stereogram. Just put on your handy red-green glasses (red goes on the right, please) and wondrous shapes will pop right out of the screen at you! This program is available for MacOS only.
