<br> <div><font face="Georgia">This has got to be the most difficult blog entry
that I will have to make. </font><br /><br /><font face="Georgia">We brought
Daniel down for his medical checkup this morning and the doctor decided that he
needed to do a blood test. The tests found that Daniel has a very high Jaundice
level at the moment (level 21, high is 20, very high is 25) and made the
recommendation that he be warded immediately to the hospital for
</font><font face="Georgia-Bold"><b>Photo theraphy
</b></font><font face="Georgia">under the ultra-violet
lights.</font><br /><br /><font face="Georgia">There was a very heart-wrenching
moment as we had to part with him at the hospital admissions and I reluctantly
handed him back to Janice who brought him to the Neo-Natal ICU ward for babies.
She immediately burst into tears at that point because Amy had been crying the
moment she found out that we had to ward
him.</font><br /><br /><font face="Georgia">It was very difficult to explain to
Amy why we had to give him up to the care of not only the hospital staff, but
also in the care of the Lord. </font><br /><br /><font face="Georgia">Moments
like these remind us of how helpless we really are in this life, that we never
had any control at all but rather </font><font face="Georgia-Bold"><b>our lives
are entirely in the hands of a Sovereign, Almighty God.
</b></font><br /><br /><font face="Georgia">We took Daniel out of the hospital
and they had passed him with flying colours, but it took only a day for the
jaundice to show up. </font><br /><br /><font face="Georgia">Irony is that we
had been breastfeeding him more to ensure that he has more moisture and liquids
to forestall the jaundice.
</font><font face="Georgia-Bold"><b>However</b></font><font face="Georgia"> as
it turns out, the combination of Daniel and his mom's blood types actually make
it worse. Apparently this is a fairly well known issue, but it baffles me that
the hospital did not anticipate this before discharging them.
</font><br /><br /><font face="Georgia">In the case of Hannah, we had to keep
her there for a few more days and Janice decided to stay around in hospital
while still breastfeeding her.</font><br /><br /><font face="Georgia">Not that I
don't trust the doctors and nursing staff, they are capable. But I trust my God
more. It doesn't make it emotionally easier to part with your newly born child,
but I know that at times like these, Daniel is entirely in the hands of our
Great and Mighty God and that is what
matters.</font><br /><br /><font face="Georgia">One thing the Lord has taught me
is that in times like these, the Father wants to teach us how to trust Him and
to </font><font face="Georgia-Bold"><b>learn to
Pray</b></font><font face="Georgia">. I know Daniel is in there for a reason. He
is otherwise healthy, in far better condition than babies who have
jaundice.</font><br /></div>
