A banding session for purple martins takes place each July at the Nepean Sailing Club.  This year, banding will be done on Saturday July 11th and 18th, beginning at 11am.  Peter Huszcz, who maintains several purple martin houses on the west lawn of the Nepean Sailing Club, is arranging the banding session.

This is open to the public and all who are interested are invited. Free parking. Sailing club restaurant opens at noon.

The Nepean Sailing Club is situated at Dick Bell Park, 3259 Carling Ave., just west of Bayshore.

  Spring Migration Monitoring Program
As always, the program runs daily from April 24
th to June 7th. This intensive program involves not only banding, but also a daily one-hour census, general observations and counts. Ideally, we need approximately 4-5 volunteers daily. Please contact Celia Bodnar at bodnarm ATmagma.ca to schedule for SMMP the spring.

Innis Point Baillie Birdathon! The annual Innis Point Baillie Birdathon takes place each May.  Everyone is welcome to take part and we hope that you will have a good time and some enjoyable spring birding.  You don't have to be an expert birder: anyone who enjoys birds can take part.  This is a beginner-friendly event.

This year we held the biggest and best Birdathon Day ever to mark our fifth year holding this event. How about a day of birding to help support the Spring Migration Monitoring Program! Join us for Baillie Birdathon next year. This year we were proud to announce David Britton as our Featured Birdathoner!  You can read about David's birdathon this year to get some ideas for your own.

This year we have a special new event to celebrate birds with the whole family! We are providing an opportunity for kids of all ages to learn about birds, bird migration and participate in a Birdathon in support of Innis Point Bird Observatory. Activities will include bird walks, a scavenger hunt, The Migration Game, a group Birdathon, indoor activities and more! Prizes, refreshments and fun for all members of the family. There is no fee and anyone can participate. Please contact Celia Bodnar at bodnarm at magma.ca for more information and to register.
