1.INTRODUCTION

The Government of Haiti has defined the priorities of its development plan along two major branches:

1- Rebuilding the State.
2- Promoting investment, job creation and economic recovery.

At this particular juncture in its history and for a long time to come, Haiti will need assistance and investments to revitalize its economy and to ensure a better quality of life for all of its citizens.

Haiti is presently at a crossroads in its history: the history of the richest of the American colonies, the history of the first independent black republic in the world, the history of the Pearl of the West Indies, and the history of a nascent democracy.

In 2004, the year Haiti celebrate the bicentennial of its independence, a vast process of development will start. We firmly believe that private investments and communications technology will be prime movers in its future.
The fight for Democracy and future stability in Haiti are, in large part, linked to its economic recovery and to the ability of the Government to select appropriate development paths.

Presently, after more than 45 years of dictatorship and social, economic and political unrest, the Haitian government has entered a crucial phase: widespread illiteracy, chronic unemployment and a devastated ecosystem are only some of the examples of the emergencies that the State must counteract in the eyes of a population that expects on-the-spot miracles.

The Haitian government can’t perform miracles. What it desperately needs is rapid and concrete intervention that will result in immediate and durable effects.

The goal of
Haiti 2004 - Go2Haiti.Com is to promote private investments and stimulate economic partnerships that will benefit the country.
