Man In Black
from the what-you-think-you-saw-you-did-not-see
dept.
I've been following the story about the man
dressed in black who stood outside the U. S. Congress building on Monday (April
11th, 2005). If you were unaware, here's
the story.It turns out his
name is Wen Hao Zhao, a resident of Australia. Notice, he did nothing outright
illegal. It seems that what he did that was illegal was not doing anything when
ordered to. They'll have to charge him in order to hold him so the charge might
be something like, "disorderly conduct for failing to obey a police officer."
Other than that, what did he do?If he
had intended to make a point, it might have been, "People of the United States.
Look how much fear you have to live under." Likely he's just a nut, but who
knows?By the way, they knew he was
from China without identification. Other than by interviewing him, it's
possible they positively determined his previous whereabouts with the aid of the
new isotope screening process they're using at the airport. They may not use it
on people yet, but his luggage was right there on the
scene.[Updated 04/13/2005 7:21
AM]: After talking to my grandfather last
night, he seems to think the man was protesting in the way made famous world
wide at Tiananmen Square, April-June,
1989:
I
didn't realize the parallel at first, and I think my grandfather has a
point.[Update 07/18/2005 11:41
