Green; motor (to drive shaft)
Red; engine, engine must revolve above 1,000 rpm
Blue; generator. Generator must revolve between -6,500 and 6,500 rpm. If the generator is overspeed, it changes engine rotation speed to reduce the generator speed. You can now change generator speed by pushing mouse button and revealing the slidebar.
The revolution speed in this animation is about 1/100 of actual one.
This movie is an alpha version. It was made only for understanding planetary-gear system. The actual system in prius may be more complex.

18 May, 2006I corrected THSII speed. I am very sorry.
September 11th, 2004 I added Gear ratio. The ratio is a situation with no battery charge.
July 6th, 2004 THSII final ratio was corrected. The maxmum speed of stealth mode was changed (44mph?). Maybe some minor bugs are exist at MG1 indicator. I will indicate generation power by brightness, but engine data of THSII above 4,500 rpm is not ready now. (MG1 power = Engine torque / 3.6 * revolution speed of MG1)

I've been looking at your realy cool animation of the Prius gear-box. I was puzzle of it's working at first. It's kind of confusing you take the power outlet of the complete engine as an input parameter (green). And ofcourse I would like to control the generator.
