workshops are in the works!
since our little blurb about workshops in 2007
we have been overwhelmed with emails requesting more info and expressing

it's a bird...it's a plane...it's our brand
new, completely
custom blog!
if all goes according to schedule we will be launching a totally new blog in the first few weeks of february....a completely new look for a new year! our new whiz bang blog will be decked out with flash header, randomly populating banners, bigger images, easier commenting and viewing, slicker navigation, cool and consistent design, etc, etc, etc. we're VERY excited about this new addition to our web presence! this past year our blog played such an important part in our business that it's only fair to have the blog look as cool as our other websites :) on the other hand we feel very sad that our trusty old blog is going to be retired....this blog has been a journal of just about everything in our life for the past two years. it will be like that rusty old car in the garage that you just can't junk...

welcome to florida
we're on the road again! we finally rolled
into our hotel here in tampa at 2:30 AM local time this morning after a very
long day of traveling and delays. we're here to shoot julia and tyson's wedding
tomorrow and then head up to tallahassee to stay with and shoot family pictures
for the fabulous susan stripling! we took a little drive up to dade city today
to scope out our locations for a tomorrow and snapped a few pics along the
way...

h h h h h happy new year!!!
last night we got home late from an awesome
wedding at the la valencia in la jolla...and that's a wrap....the 2006 season is
finished! it's hard to believe we started this season shooting in hawaii last
january and FIFTY weddings later finished up the year on the last day of the
year. this year has been full of much joy and many changes for us. it's kinda
hard to wrap our head around all of the exciting things we did, places we
traveled to, things purchased, experienced, etc. over the course of 2006. for
those of you that are regular followers of our blog you've witnessed first hand
just how crazily busy we've been!
we're anxiously looking forward to an awesome 2007!!! we've got some fun and exciting things up our sleeve that we're planning on launching throughout the year:
- the "ultimate" and "jumbo" engagement sessions...
- a whole new the images is found blog...
- "the white session"...
- wedding websites for couples...
- a slew of new portrait products and packages...
- new wedding products and packages...
- a photographer's FAQ...
- workshops for photographers...
- etc, etc, etc...
along with all of that we'll still be shooting like crazy and continuing to push ourselves creatively. we've got lots of fun ideas running around in our little brains that are just aching to get out :) we're continuing to refine our back-end systems to boost efficiency and improve our turnaround time on images and products.
a look back at 2006 would not be complete without a big shout out and even bigger thank you to all of the truly amazing couples that allowed us to play such an important part on their wedding day! we feel so incredibly blessed to do what we do week in and week out....thank you everyone!!!
we'd also like to take a minute to thank our amazing families and friends whose love and support over this past year has been priceless to us both.
to all of the photographers out there that we've had the privilege of befriending this year, thank you for all of the good times, support, techno babble, shooting, inspiration etc.
and lastly, a big shout out to all of you loyal blog readers...especially the commenting ones :) it's nice to know that at least a few people out there enjoy looking at our imagery and reading all these poorly written words!

wpja winners!
we recently entered a number of images in the
wedding photojournalist
association fall contest and we ended up placing four images!!! we
feel incredibly honored to have placed among some of the best photojournalists
around the world. check out our four winning
images...
JUDGES COMMENTS: I like the composition almost as much as I like the reactions caught in this frame. It's a very nice moment caught at the exact right time, with nice layering. The groom in the foreground, the bride in the middle, and the guy in the background tossing something in their direction make this a very "complete" storytelling image.
JUDGES COMMENTS: This image looks like the memory we all have of the best friend reminiscing episodes of the groom’s life. Well composed, and obviously a perfect moment on both layers…
JUDGES COMMENTS: This child has incredible eyes, and I like how the photographer saw that and made a frame that illustrates this well. By framing the image just above the mouth, it forces you to focus your attention on the child's eyes. The simple background and the nice light give it a very rich Avedon-like "studio" feel. Very nice job.
JUDGES COMMENTS: Very nice reaction here. It looks like these two women are tasting tequila - one likes it, one might not. It gives a hint of what the reception might be like at this event, and I think the photographer was successful at capturing a nice complete original moment.

HO HO HO...the holidays are coming!

seeing as the holidays are quickly approaching, it's time for a bit of information for all you loyal blog followers...
our 2006 holiday order cutoff date is december 1st!
any orders received by december 1st will be delivered no later than december 20th. even better if you place your orders before december 1st, we'll put in a good word for you with santa :)

sdsw fashion shoot
we've been advertisers in san diego style
weddings magazine for a couple of years now and we were soooo excited when they
asked us to shoot a bridal fashion shoot for the upcoming issue. we had so much
fun shooting katrina, carolyn, and greg, who were all very friendly and
absolutely gorgeous! we did most of the shooting at leo carillo ranch in
carlsbad and then went to a private estate in rancho sante fe. we'll let you
know when the issue hits
newstands!!!

so it's the end of an era here at the image is
found. as of today we are officially severing our relationship with pictage in
favor of our new custom designed shopping cart and online proofing solution.
besides a MUCH cleaner more intuitive interface, couples, families and friends
will also benefit from:
* faster print turnaround times
* higher quality prints and products
* no more endless spam mail from pictage to you and your guests (so sorry...we had no control over that in spite of countless complaints to customer service)
* direct links to your images on our server, no more "find event name" searches.
* a customized "home" page from which family and friends can launch to view all of your wedding images, your "best of" wedding slideshow, and your engagement slideshow!
* easy, secure credit card processing through paypal.
* did we mention a MUCH cleaner, cooler, more intuitive interface!!!

album rave from mark and kara!

Oh my goodness you guys! Words just can't express how much we love our wedding album, it is simply amazing! I love, love, love the green cover and the picture on the front!! It came at a perfect time, and provided me with the pick me up I needed after returning from my grandmother's funeral. We can't wait to show it off to all our friends and family. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
Also, I must tell you how impressed we have been with your service since the wedding. You made the process of creating our album so easy and convenient, and we are just thrilled to have received the album so quickly. (Most of our friends have had to wait 1 yr to get their albums!!) We also just love how unique and personalized the queensberry albums are, so kudos to you for selecting them as your album provider.

the days of pictage are coming to an end...for us.
since we have started our photography business
we have used pictage.com to fulfill our online proofing and ordering needs.
despite numerous problems and issues we have had with the company, there really
has not been a better solution until now. in the next month or so we will be
switching over to a brand new flash proofing system developed by theta
interactive (the same company that has brought you the ingenious
design behind our online slideshows). we are so excited about this and can't
wait for you all to see!!! we'll be posting a complete demo
soon...

all choked up
quite often we get so wrapped up in creating
awesome images and trying to push our envelope that we forget about the power
and sentiment that images contain. we just received this note from ginny who's
images we shot about a month ago. a little background...ginny's husband ryan,
just left for iraq last month and mei-lin is their 2 and a half year old
daughter. we both got all choked up when we read
this...

we received our pictures...thank you! mei-lin loves the picture of her and ryan (#22), I've hung it next to her bed and we give him a kiss every night before bed and she loves to stare at it during story time.
