The rec.arts.tv FAQ:The WWW Sites for TV News & Info:Last updated: February 28, 2006. This version: 8.00 These are the main websites for news about the TV industry, and news about particular TV shows' status (e.g. cancellation, etc.): |
| Zap2It TV: www.zap2it.com/tv/ |
The "Zap2it.com" web site from Tribune Media Services (formed
via a merger with the former Ultimate TV and MovieQuest
websites). While not nearly as useful as it used to be when it was run
by Ultimate TV (i.e. the Zap2It site no longer contains a version of
the "TV Shows List", which used to archive fan websites for various TV
shows), it is still the premiere "TV news" wesbite, along with
The Futon Critic.
Another useful Zap2It resource are links to the various TV networks, and links to the various local TV stations around the U.S. Basically, this should be considered a "must-see" TV site. |
| The Futon Critic: www.thefutoncritic.com |
The Web site from Brian Ford Sullivan, The Futon Critic. While Nielsen has forced The Futon Critic to drop his "ratings" section, this site is still a hugely useful TV news site. It includes such hard to find info as the pilot/development slate from the networks every Winter/Spring. It also includes the kind of renewal/cancellation/etc. info found in my own TV Shows Status Page. |
| TV Guide - News: www.tvguide.com/news/ |
TV Guide has a pretty large website - the cited section focuses on TV (and entertainment) news, though other sections will all have TV news as well, so check them out... |
| Media Week: www.mediaweek.com |
The Web site for MediaWeek, the TV industry's online publication. It includes a substantial amount of TV news, including the ratings info from "The Programming Insider", Marc Berman. |
| Sci-Fi Wire: www.scifi.com/scifiwire/ |
"Sci-Fi Wire", a site devoted to Sci-Fi TV news - TV specific news is found here, including a (ratings) list of the Top 10 Sci-Fi shows for the week. |
| TV Week: www.tvweek.com |
The Web site for TelevisionWeek, another online TV-related publication. TVWeek also has some ratings info - this time in schedule-grid form (in .pdf). |
| TV Barn (Blog): www.tvbarn.com |
The (Blog) Web site for TV Barn, from TV critic Aaron Barnhart - this site contains articles about current TV events, etc. |
