This is the second edition of a file that will be occasionally posted 
to answer Frequently Asked Questions about the children's/teenager's 
TV series, Saved by the Bell.  Permission is granted by the author to 
distribute this file in an UNMODIFIED form to other networks and BB's,

0.1) What is a FAQ? What is an Episode Guide?

A FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) or a FAQL (Frequently Asked Questions 
List) is a document that serves to answer commonly (or perhaps not so 
commonly) asked questions about a particular subject. Such a document is 
usually posted to the internet (or to an online service) to the various 
groups or BB's (bulletin boards) to which it is relevant, in the hopes of 
answering these often asked questions. For instance, this FAQ serves to 
answer questions about the TV show Saved by the Bell, and so will be 
posted to some relevant usenet groups (and BB's in America OnLine) in 
hopes of answering the common questions asked about Saved by the Bell. 
Hopefully, this FAQ will mean that people will not have to post a message 
to get the answer to their question.

An episode guide is a document that serves to provide information about 
each episode of a particular TV show. Some episode guides list only the 
number of episodes aired and the episode titles for a show. Others go 
further and will list original first-run airdates and/or production codes 
(an example of this is Daniel Andersson's (daniel@algonet.se) "Short 
Guides" for Saved by the Bell, California Dreams and Running the Halls 
which are complete episode lists). Many episode guides actually provide a 
short synopsis of the plot of each episode, and even the credits for that 
episode. The episode guide for this FAQ (which is Part II of this FAQ) is 
an example of the latter.

*alt.tv.saved-bell* is the primary usenet newsgroup for discussion of 
the TV series "Saved by the Bell" (and related topics, such as other 
T-NBC/Peter Engel shows like "California Dreams", etc.).

1.0)  THE SAVED BY THE BELL EPISODE LISTS:


1.1)  The Proper Order of Saved by the Bell Episodes Based on 
               the Production Numbers

As stated in the FAQ, NBC takes great liberties with the airing order of its T-NBC shows. While the proper chronological order probably most corresponds to the production codes (which is usually the way Saved by the Bell is aired in rerun syndication), NBC totally ignored that order. In fact it aired some episodes completely in the wrong seasons!

Before we get to that, though, here is (what I have heard is) the airing order of "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" (the 8th Grade incarnation of SbtB) on the Disney Channel. (NOTE: The GMMB pilot aired on NBC, originally in the timeslot of "The Facts of Life".) Needless to say, all dates are tentative:

According to Daniel Andersson, who has access to the syndication production information, NBC lists seasons by the production list this way (NOTE: What I call "Season IVa" (the "Tori" Garde 12 season), NBC called "Season V"):

So using this is as a (very loose) guide, this would be the proper chronological order of the episodes and seasons, based on the production codes, according to me (and seasons according to NBC where you see "--" dividers). The one exception to this order based on production codes is the "Graduation" Special which belongs after the Valentine's Day retrospective episode:

Zack Morris. Instead, Green played a super-serious student who always 
wore business suits. Green's character's friend was played by Jaleel 
White (of Family Matters fame). Oliver Clark of "The Bob Newhart Show" 
played the first Principal Belding, but his first name was Gerald, *not* 
Richard. Hayley Mills and maybe the actress who played her girlfriend were 
the only holdovers from the pilot to the rest of the GMMB episodes. 

Beyond this, I do not know who else was in the pilot, as I have only heard from only two person who have seen it. If you have, or you know about it, please drop me a line.

NOTE: It appears that there was an NBC promotional episode, using SbtB cast 
members, that aired to promote NBC's (mostly cartoon) line-up. This episode 
must have aired at the beginning of either the '89, '90 or '91 seasons. 
(1992 is when the "T-NBC" line-up, including "California Dreams" and 
"Name Your Own Adventure", started. Based on the description, I'm guessing 
that this promotional episode aired in 1990. The exact date of when 
this episode aired is unknown, but it was likely either the week before 
the season premiere of SbtB, or the week of the premiere (I'm guessing 
the latter).

 > Every year NBC would do a special "season-opener" of the Saturday 
 > morning lineup where they would go through and introduce all the 
 > shows for that season.  It was an annual ordeal, but the one year 
 > involved the whole cast of "Saved By The Bell."  My remembrance of 
 > the plot is that it was the first day of school.  However, one or 
 > two of the characters were together (my guess is Zack and Screech) 
 > and they ended up in this mystical world. Belding couldn't figure out 
 > why they weren't at school yet, and kept threatening to give Zack

 > releasing the other students one or two at a time to go figure out 
 > where Zack is.  They all show up at Zack's house and one by one

 Movie*-The gang takes a vacation to Hawaii for some R & R. Meanwhile, 
             the Principals of L.A. are taking a tour of Hawaii and 
             guess who is the tour-leader? Mr. Belding! While in the 
             Hawaii airport, Lisa bets the newly dating Slater and Jessie 
             $50 each that they can't get along without fighting for 2 
             weeks. Also in the airport, Zack meets a Hawaiian native, 
             Andrea Larson, and he believes it is love at first sight. 
             But her boyfriend, Derek Worthington, picks her up and Zack 
             doesn't think he will see her again. The gang stays at the 
             hotel, "The Hideaway", which Kelly's Granfather, Harry 
             Bannister, owns. The Principals stay at The Royal Pacific.

        Harry tells the gang that he is probably going to sell to The 
             Royal Pacific for their expansion because they have all but 
             put him out of business. The gang decides to help him by 
             becoming his volunteer staff. They go to the Royal Pacific 
             and make all the Principals mad by posing as Royal staff and 
             giving terrible service. So Belding decides to move the tour 
             to the Hideaway. While they are at the Royal Pacific, Zack 
             sees Andrea again. She is an Activities Director for the 
             hotel, and her boyfriend, Derek, is the son of the owner, 
             Charles Worthington. Harry's lawyer, Brian Hanson, hits on 
             Kelly and they start to get close. He convinces Kelly that 
             selling the Hideaway is in her grandfather's best interest.

        Meanwhile, some members of the Pupuku tribe kidnap Screech and 
             Lisa. When they get to their village, they tell Screech that 
             he is their new Chief. Apparently, Chief Monaleo told these 
             natives that his descendent would save them, and the statue 
             of Chief Monaleo looks like Screech. The tribe is afraid 
             that the hotel is going to steal their land and build on it, 
             but they have no deed to prove they own the land.

        Zack and Andrea spend a lot of time together and he is falling 
             for her. She then introduces him to her 6 year old daughter, 
             Jennifer. Zack gets along great with Jennifer and he and 
             Andrea get closer.

        Kelly (on Brian's advice) convinces her Grandpa to sell. But then 
             Lisa overhears Brian talking to Charles Worthington about a 
             loan extension. Brian is out to hurt Harry by making him 
             lose everything. The gang comes up with a plan. Belding 
             poses as a professor of Polynesian Culture and Zack makes a 
             fake deed to the land for the Pupukus. Brian takes it to 
             Worthington and he burns it, but not before Screech sets up 
             a hidden video in the office.

        Zack shows the tape to Worthington and he backs down from buying 
             the Hideaway land and taking the Pupuku's land. Andrea quits 
             her job after she hears what jerks Derek and his father are. 
             Kelly punches Brian in the face.

        It's time for the gang to go. Harry offers Andrea a job as his 
             new manager. The Pupukus become his staff. Zack is 
             heartbroken about leaving Andrea and Jennifer and he tells 
             her he will move to Hawaii. She tells him no, that 
             everything will work out.And of course, Jessie and Slater 
             lost the bet to Lisa and she becomes $100 richer! 

        The gang goes back to California.
