NOTE: This FAQ and episode guide site is complete, and is primarily
in basic "maintenance mode" (i.e. this site is basically done,
and only minor 'tweaks' are required).
Before you ask any questions about
this TV-related site, please read the FAQ
for this website which will answer many of these questions! Questions
about obtaining TV series on DVDs (for DVDs, see also: www.TVShowsOnDVD.com),
tapes, etc. should be directed to the usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv
or alt.tv.saved-bell (maybe), or to the
network or channel that airs the
show (in syndication) or to NBC Productions,
the production company that produced the show.
California Dreams was a sitcom produced by NBC
Productions, Inc. California Dreams (CD, for
short) began as the second show of NBC's T-NBC line up, after NBC decided
to expand its Saturday morning line-up beyond Saved
by the Bell. It began its run on
September 12, 1992, and ran for five seasons - the last first-run
episode aired on December 14, 1996. There were a total of 78 episodes
produced and filmed. California Dreams used to air in syndication
on cable stations WGN and TBS,
but it hasn't aired there recently; the show was also syndicated to
local TV stations - the show might still be found there on some local
channels throughout the country.
California Dreams had the following cast:
The Cast:

California Dreams seems to have been originally conceived as a family sitcom
(about the Garrison family) first, and a show about the band second. Originally,
the show was most about the Garrison teenagers, Matt (lead singer and guitarist/keyboardist)
and Jenny (secondary singer and keyboardist), with the chracters of Sly (neighbor and manager),
Tiffani (the bassist and Jenny's best friend) and Tony (the drummer) being secondary.
But NBC was dissatisfied with the show's format in Season
1, so the producers of
California Dreams decided to change the direction of the show.
The Garrison family element was dropped in season #2 (though the
Garrison parents still appeared in a couple of epiosdes),
and the band became the main focus of the show. The "wackiness" quotient
in the comedy was also increased (which made for a better show,
in this author's opinion). New characters were also added in
season #2: Jake (lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter),
and (after Jenny Garrison left the show), exchange student Sam (singer
and keyboardist). New characters were added again at the start of
season 3 (after
Matt Garrison departed the show): Sly's cousin Mark (keyboardist,
singer and player of other instruments when necessary), and Lorena (group/dancer,
later co-manager), whose family took Sam in and whose loft is used
for band practices.
This last format was the one that lasted through Seasons
#3 and #4, and on into the last season, Season #5.
Californa Dreams was a Peter Engel Production,
was Produced by Franco Bario - it was created by (former Saved
by the Bell) writers Ronald Solomon and
Brett Dewey. Tony Soltis was the Story Editor of the show.
The show's music was by Steve Tyrell.

the site for California Dreams fan fiction. Once a "must see" site

of late...
