Eternity ahead of us

Another big task is waiting ahead of me. Although I'm not sure if I can accomplish this task, I know I must take the challenge. The problem is, Ihave little time to spare for it at the moment. Arimasa Mori, researcher of Descartes and Pascal who lived and died in Paris, quoting Rilke, pointed out that we must tackle any task as if we had the eternity ahead of us: only then we are able to acomplish our best. There is a Japanese famous woodensculptor who is now eighty years old, still buying and storing wood for his future works. He will need another hundred years to carve them all. No one knows when we will meet our last day, but being mortal should not prevent us from doing our best today, accomplishing whatever tasks we undertake.
