York River

We finally made it into York River Yacht Haven on Saturday afternoon after a nasty morning motoring against the wind and waves at the head of the Chesapeake Bay. We had originally planned on a 2 day stopover in Norfolk, Virginia to meet up with Ruth's parents however due to a waterfront festival the marinas were full so we carried on up to the York River. The 3 night passage went well in terms of weather and progress, with the Gulf Stream giving us a helping hand and no headwinds until we were into the Bay. We did have a number of breakage's with the whisker pole coming down when it's mounting on the mast parted (breaking part of a handrail) and the charger isolation switch melting down while running the generator. Yet more on the todo list though since I will be here with the boat for two weeks so hopefully many of these will be fixed.

Fortunately we were still able to meet up Ruth's parents when they stopped here for lunch on their way home. Ruth will see them again at the weekend at the annual family beach holiday (I am heading to the UK to meet up with my sister Rhona when she comes over from New Zealand).

The Charleston North Log and Photos have been updated now that the marina internet connection is working (the 2007 boatwork photo page also has pictures of some of the breakage's). The first picture is of Bottlenose Dolphins off the Carolinas, the 2nd the boat at the yacht haven.
