Introduction

I have made this web site to help family members access our family history more easily, and to find others through the Web who share common ancestors.

This family tree includes the lines of Edgington/Edginton*, Sherman, King, Wells, Prosser, Lloyd, Davis, Palmer*, Powell, Knapton, Sayer, Kipling, Hunter*, Reilly*, Nesbitt*, White*, Harvey-Sutton, Macindoe*, Aitken, Whitham, Cox, O'Keefe, Hussy/Hussey, Tobin, Woods, Hall — both their English, Welsh and Irish forebears and their Australian and New Zealand descendants (*more information on these branches will be added soon
in particular, I have much more information on the Palmer and Hunter families than on this site).

This site is still a "work in progress" with many pieces of the puzzle missing. I am interested not only in names and dates, but also in preserving and sharing family stories. If you have any stories, photos or anything else you would like to share, or if you can provide more information on the families of origin in Britain and Ireland, please let me know!

All the people on this web site are from earlier generations. I have more detailed information about the earlier and current generations that is not on this site. Please email or telephone me if you are related and are interested in this more detailed information.

I plan to add photographs of forebears to this site in the coming months.

For those I have fallen out of touch with, you would know me by my previous name of Jeremy Whitham.

 Dedication

This family tree is dedicated to the memory of:

Roger Clayton Edginton Powell (1927-2003) who was a kind and decent man, and a quintessential old style Australian, and whose untimely death reminded me that we are not all here forever; and

Samuel Pepys (1633-1703) whose famous diary inspired my own diary-keeping and obsessive tendencies to record as much as I could.

Many thanks to all those who have contributed so far (as acknowledged in the detailed information not on the site), and to my wife Barbara for her indispensable help with all the IT and her great patience.
