Texas Confessional Lutheran Conference

I spoke at the TCL Free Conference in Brenham, Texas concerning the Synodical Convention.

With some trepidation, I accepted Pr. Jerome Teichmiller's invitation to 'fill-in' for Pr. White, who was unable to attend the conference. At Pr. Teichmiller's invitation, I repeated my paper on the 2004 Convention, Here We have no Continuing City . The warm and enthusiastic reception I received was, frankly, a relief; I wasn't sure how people would respond to Salem's decision to withdraw from the LC—MS. Everyone who came to the microphone was supportive, and many expressed the desire that their congregation would/could do the same thing.
Everyone in TCL was stunned by the size of the crowd! There were over 180 who reserved tickets for the lunch on Saturday, and I have no idea how many showed up on Friday evening--the count as last I heard it was 226, but they weren't sure everyone had signed in yet.
It was profoundly humbling to be so well received by the assembled brethren. Dr. Marquart was very gracious in his kind remarks about my presentation. I was also impressed that he publicly stated that the intrusion of error into the LC—MS could not be considered “casual” (to use the words of the Brief Statement). Although his own approach favors working a little longer to try 'salvaging' Missouri, he did admit that separation was necessary if the false doctrine is not corrected. However, for many (if not most) of the laymen and women at Brenham, the time for talking is clearly over. I suspect we'll be hearing from even more folks soon concerning getting out of the LC—MS.

I took a few pictures during Dr. Kurt Marquart's presentation...

(What a crowd!)
