4th annual Bethany conference
On January 18th, I attended the annual conference
at Bethany-Ft. Wayne.
During the 2001 LC–MS convention, several
confessional pastors came to the conclusion that it would be helpful for the
brethren to gather for
substantial
theological study (as opposed to the endless politicking) reflecting on the
crisis in Missouri. On January 18th, we gathered for the fourth annual
conference at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Many thanks to Pastors
Varsogea and Trouten for hosting our
gathering!
Following Matins, four papers
were presented over the course of the morning and afternoon. (BTW: The ladies of
Bethany provided a delicious lunch for the pastors.) There was a group picture
of the participants, but since many of them are still LC–MS pastors, we'll
just have to leave their district presidents speculating for now. I think it
will suffice for now to simply observe that this was the best attendance we've
had to date.
I presented a paper on
"Pastoral Responsibility and the Office of the Keys in the Lutheran
Confessions," which I will endeavor to post on Salem's website in the near
future.
