  • Anonymity - The quality or state of having no known name or identity or known source. Takes away accountability for one's actions.

  • Crowd - Groups of people bonded by some common interest.

  • Deindividuation - Loss of self-awareness and evaluation apprehension; occurs in group situations that foster responsiveness to group norms, good or bad.

  • Flash Mob - A group of strangers organized by electronic media, who gather together in a public place, behave in a pre-determined (and often silly) manner for a pre-determined amount of time, and quickly disperse.

  • Group - Any number of people considered a unit.

  • Herd Instinct - Characterized by a lack of individuality, herd instinct is associated with people thinking and acting like the general population.

  • Mob - A highly emotional crowd whose members engage in, or are ready to engage in, violence against a specific target, which may be a person, a category of people, or physical property.
