It only took a short time for us to find the house
that was to become our home in San Pedro Sula. We were looking
for a home in a safe neighborhood, close to a small grocery, and
Kesia had hoped that we could find one close to an ice cream store
(one of the first words she learned in Spanish was helados,
or ice cream.)
We live in the neighborhood
called Jardines de Valle, or Garden of the Valley, across the street
from two supermercados, and down the street from both a
panaderia (bakery) and a Kobs ice cream stand! We
have a balcony off our bedroom and a view of the mountains from
our backyard.
Buying furniture was an interesting expereince, as prices seemed to be very fluid, rising ever upward as we made decisions about what we wanted. We were also intrigued to discover that when you buy appliances it doesn't include the cost of hoses and electrical cords. We were grateful to meet young Nehemias and his friend Naun at our church who helped us hook everything up
