smcFanControl 1.21a released

smcFanControl 1.21a includes support for the 15,4" MBP with Core2Duo processor.
Note: The upcoming release of smcFanControl (menu-item) is still in the works. It's delayed a few days, cause I just moved from Germany to Switzerland.

First: Thx so much for all the translations, suggestions and bugfixes I got by you. You are a great community! The next major-release of smcFanControl is going to be a MenuExtra instead of an application located in the dock. It's already in development and I hope to get it out by the end of the coming week. But before there is a last release of the "conventional" smcFanControl application.

smcFanControl 1.21 includes the following enhancments and bug fixes:

  • Greek, Polish und Turkish localization added

  • FAQ and Readme updated

  • Bugfix: smcFanControl does not produce proccess-zombies anymore

  • Bugfix: Code for setting new fan speed was changed/improved

  • Minor improvements to GUI

  • Temperature readout added!

  • FAQ extended => Read it online here.

  • Chinese localization added

  • Bugfix: When sliders, were in sync, speed for Fan #2 was not set

  • Minor improvements to GUI

  • Changes in authorization

smcFanControl 1.11 includes some enchantments and bug fixes:

  • German and Italian localization added

  • Bugfix: Admin-Accounts with empty passwords can now authenticate successfully

  • Bugfix: When hidden, smcfancontrol doesn't eat up cpu-cycles anymore

  • Bugfix: Users with special characters in password can now authenticate successfully


Info: On Macbook Pro's the speed of fan #2 can not be set under the speed of fan #1. This behavious seems to be due a setting in SMC controller. I can not change it.

smcFanControl 1.1 includes some enchantments and bug fixes:

  • Support for MacMini (intel) added

  • Start hidden/in background option added

  • Option to sync sliders on MacBook Pro for easier control

  • Window position is now remembered

  • Bugfix: Fan #2 on MBP could not be controlled seperately

  • Bugfix: Changes in keychain-access to prevent crashes
