Cancer update through pictures: April 5 2008

I'm entering that phase of treatment where the primary challenge is being stir-crazy. Recovery is likely, but it's going to take awhile. I take laps around the living room (I can do two before I have to rest). So, for your entertainment, but more for mine, here's a few more pictures of the adventure.

This is a picture of me at Chemotherapy session #2, Wed April 2. My friend Thad took the picture.

Of course, we had to have a funny face picture too:

My cat, Boots, has decided that I am his new sleeping mat. Here's a view from my front:

And here's a view from his front:

The two of us spend hours together this way.

Now, I must confess that on this next picture I did hold in my stomach. The scars on my right (your left) are from my first trip to the hospital at the end of February. The bottom two are from the biopsy and the drain, the top one and the lump near it are the porta-cath. The bruises on my left (your right) are from the many blood tests done during my second visit to the hospital. The one just below from my elbow is from a vein that "blew out" due to so many sticks. The bruises don't look so bad in the picture, but they're pretty colorful in person. They're fading away pretty quickly now, since I've been out of the hospital for about 10 days since the last visit.

Well, here's my muscle-and-chemotherapy fitness magazine cover shot:

You can also see a slightly distended (bulging) vein in my right arm (your left). That's caused by the clot near the porta-cath. My oncologist says that I will be dealing with that for the rest of my life, even after the clot is completely dissolved. I guess I'll need to get back to running/bike riding to get myself in shape when this is all over. I'd like to work on getting my 2nd degree black belt, but that will take more concentration.

My son got me an Under-Armor beanie for my balding head:
