Images of my trip to Spain

I went to the 2007 International Symposium on Industrial Electronics at Vigo Spain, for which I served as a co-track chair for the controls track. I stayed at the Hotel Mexico on Vial Del Norte, near the coast (about 1 km walk down hill). Hotel Mexico has free Wi-Fi on-site and the room includes a good breakfast in the restaurant downstairs (eggs, bread, cereal, milk, coffee, fruit, yogurt, toast). It's listed as a 3-star hotel, but I was very pleased with my stay there.

The conference was held at Caixanova Centro Cultural, about 2 blocks from the coast and one km from Hotel Mexico.
Here's a few pictures of the Center:

Vigo is currently host to a travelling cow display that, as I understand, goes from town to town in Europe. The cows provided a good set of landmarks for me. Since I am not used to a "big city," the streets all looked very much alike to me for the first day or so. (Vigo is actually not that big, but, coming from Auburn, by comparison I was a fish out of water.) Here are some pictures of the cows:

I walked at the Samil beach with Prof. Terry Martin, University of Arkansas. It was very pretty. Here's a few photos:

I unfortunately did not take my camera with me when I went to the conference Gala Dinner. There was a concert by a spanish bagpipe and drum corps (we were told that the Celts also settled in northern Spain, so this was authentic 18th century Spanish culture!). The music was amazing. Thanks to help from the Coffee Break Spanish podcast, I was able to compliment them in their own language.

Oh, and of course I took some photos of the motorcycles and scooters there. They just park them on the sidewalk, even by the Centro Cultural!

It was an enjoyable trip, but I don't think I'm quite the world traveller without my family with me. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as a conference volunteer and hope to do so again.
