We have an economy of fungus

People have stated their disgust with the bailout of banks, etc. Disgusting things have been going on much longer than that, as seen on commercials for the last year or so.

I've noticed this for awhile, but it was especially obvious while I waited for my radiation treatments in August. The commercials on TV could only be described as predatory fungus, tumors on our economy:

- Car title pawn ads: these guys charge something like 30-50% APR interest. "Keep your car" they say, but they prey upon those who are likely to lose their car due to income problems. TitleMax, TitleBucks, whoever. Advertising is expensive, and they put up a lot of them. They must make a lot of money.

- Lawyers masquerading as medical relief: mesothelioma, heart leads, whatever. These class-action ambulance chasers are not there to represent you, they're there to take 1/3 of the settlement of what they hope will be a big award.

These people add nothing of value to our culture: they are fungus, feeding off of the weak and weary. Combine this with most of the other ads having to do with cosmetic appearance and sexual function, and our television commercials paint a picture of a country that has lost its rudder.

$700 billion bailout? It's just more fungus. We've been doing it long enough that Congress just followed our lead.
