What others think of Christianity

This is a German news program I saw on YouTube, with English subtitles. The video is designed to demonize all American activities in Iraq, including humanitarian aid by churches. It's a very well done "us vs them" kind of story - which is designed to make the viewers despise Christian missionary activity of any kind.

The misinformation on this piece is disturbing: both the misrepresentation of humanitarian work - some by people I know personally - as well as a terribly shallow understanding of Islam presented by both churchgoers and by the newspeople themselves.

This is a piece meant to persuade and isolate people - in short, it's propaganda, which does nothing to aid the situation between the various faiths.

The problem is not helped at all by common 'Christianese' phrases like "Spiritual warfare" etc. We need to take careful stock of our language and be sure that it communicates to others what it means to us - i.e., prayer, not the sword; an embraced faith, not an imposed faith, etc.
