So what do you do when you're teacher is (possibly) abusing his position?

If you don't know the story of high school sophomore Sean Allen and his geography teacher Jay Bennish - stop reading now. You are an unpolluted national treasure that should be preserved.

For the rest of us, may I say: take a look at the wmv file on this link . A transcript of the student's original taped lecture can be obtained here.

This whole discussion is just silly.

Sean Allen Is criticized for not speaking to the teacher first. he says Mr. Bennish is "an intimidating person." That's a silly excuse. Watch him in the interviews. He holds his own. Talk to the teacher, kid.

Jay Bennish I watched his interview here. He says he's being misrepresented. In his lecture he's upset about the President's State of the Union address, but "I'm not taking a position." doesn't wash. That's silly. Apologize and start again.

The rest of the loons
Sean Hannity says the guy should be fired. For crying out loud. Even sillier than the Allen and Bennish.
Alan Colmes and Michael Gross: work together to beat the naughty boy into submission. "Why did you only record 20 minutes of the lecture?" Ans: "Because he only lectured for 20 minutes that day." Like I said, the kid holds his own well. Colmes and Gross: silly. Allen: I'm actually impressed (which makes the excuse above silly).
The hypocrisy award of the day goes to
Michael Gross: says the students behavior is improper because "students need to learn to question authority, not to be frightened, dissent is not disloyalty."
Ummm.
I'm sure Mr. Allen has learned his lesson.
