Realism in TV: not what I want.

I was watching some recent Battlestar Galactica episodes on the web today, catching up. In the past, we objected to the series because of all of the sex and skin, but today they crossed the line:

The showed a cancer patient wheeling an IV pump with a quart jar of red liquid in it. NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I had to look away.

Food, fuel and the poor

Update May 7: Jeff Weddle comment summary added to the end of the note.

Pam Baginski runs our church's food pantry, which gives away roughly a half ton or more of food every week to help the needy in our community.

She and some of her volunteers bring a different perspective to the food and fuel prices that I think needs to be heard.

My suspicion is that neither Washington nor the oil companies possess the guilt nor the solution for the problem; however, it is important for us to be vigilant on our own to give aid as we can. Jesus said so.

Which religion is right for me?

Oh, not a surprise at all, is it?

update Sept 17: This page is getting a lot of hits. I thought I might put up a couple of references as an attempt to give an answer to the question.

First: a few years ago I taught a lesson on "What's the difference between Jesus, Buddha, and Mohammed? " pdf here. It's only one column of text per faith (hardly a fair treatment of any of the three), but it's a start.

Second: several years ago I put together a set of notes on "So what DO they believe?" pdf here. It addresses beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, etc., in contrast with those of protestant Christianity.
