Welcome to my weblog

Thanks for reading! Some weblogs are focussed in their topic. This one isn't. Choose a topic in the sidebar to the right or click on a link below.

Where to start I've been fighting cancer (non-Hodgkins lymphoma) since February this year. A lot of people write to say they've found encouragement from my comments and newsletters. That's been quite a surprise to me, but I'm glad. If you'd like to read the whole story, start with blog entry "For those who are just tuning in."

The most inspirational entry for me personally is "Reflections on Matthew Ch. 8: which I didn't think had to do with cancer." It's a lesson that was slow coming and remains something that I need to review regularly.

LBC College Bible Study December 3 2008

Originally planned for March of 2008, this presentation on oral tradition and Galatians was postponed due to cancer (lymphoma). In this article:

(1) Historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus: sermon by Prof. J. P. Moreland, Talbot Seminary, at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Anaheim California, April 10, 2006. Discusses oral tradition and how that relates to reliability of the Bible. See also: Lee Stroebel, The Case for Christ, available as an audiobook on iTunes.

(2) .pdf file of my presentation for this lesson.

Cancer update: Dec 1 2008 (disappointing news)

The results from last week's biopsy are in.  As is typical, my prediction of what was coming next was wrong.  Two ulcers were biopsied, and both show the lymphoma to be present.

Women and church

Another meditation from my diary.
The baptist blogs seem littered with people who tell women to keep silent in the church. (See the comments here and here.) Yet, the practices recorded in Acts seem to be different. ...
