Chariots of Fire

"You can praise the Lord by peeling a spud if you peel it to perfection."
"I believe God made me for a purpose. But he also made me fast, and when I run I feel his pleasure. To win is to honor him."

This story of two runners, Eric Liddell and Jacob Abrahams, is a fantastic story of two men, two faiths, a common sport, and a drive to excel for a purpose.

I watch this movie several times a year. It's inspiring and worthwhile watching. It's also worthwhile to read a biography of Eric Liddell.

By the way, yes, that's Alice Krige, the Borg Queen, as Jacob Abraham's love (and later his wife).
And that's Ian Holm (Bilbo in the LOTR movies, Frodo in the BBC radio production) as the half-Italian coach, Sam Mussabini.
