Eragon

A long book with a short movie.

It's too bad that the author of this book is still alive. My brother and I have a theory about the quality of a person's work in relation to their state of alive-ness: Dead or Alive.
Generally, if the author is dead when a movie is made of their book, it probably is going to be amazing. Yes, I do realize that the only my references for this fact are the three Lord of the Rings films. But hey-- as my Aunt Kathy pointed out, Lord of the Rings is nearly a religious text in this house.

Okay, before I move on I should say that I did not think that this film was bad. Just short. Really short. So much so that when certain things happened in the film, they didn't carry the weight that they did in the book because there wasn't a base of the deepness of a relationship or the danger of a situation. That made me sad. I wanted to give this movie an 11. The book deserved at least that much.

Alas, the author is still alive. I recommend renting this film when the opportunity arises. Unless you're like me and LOVED the book and think that Ed Speleers is really cute. Then you should buy it.
