Thanksgiving 1997
Stoughton 24 Canton 14
For the fourth time in five years, a Stoughton runner gained over 200 yards rushing against Canton. In 1997 it was Paul McCarthy, who churned out 257 yards and one touchdown. Stoughton's Kevin Layton had a 6 yard run while Don Rideout's 20 yard reception from Quarterback Neil Houghton put Stoughton up 21 -14 in the last quarter. Houghton tacked on a 36 yard field goal. For Canton Kenny Fischer got a 57 yard TD run while sophomore Tommy Thornton scored on a 26 yard run. Defensively Stoughton team captains Joe Apotheker and Tom Lucier clogged up the middle of the line. For Canton defensively Mike Thornton, Jeff Foley, and Dave McSweeney had good games.
