The idea for covering Stoughton sports on Channel 9 began in 1995. Upon graduation from Connecticut School of Broadcasting, John Leahy approached Deborah Miles, who at the time was Stoughton program director for what was then Continental Cablevision. They talked about opportunities for getting sports on the air in Stoughton. After a brief run through with the equipment, the first Stoughton sporting event on-air occurred on December 23, 1995 at the Asiaf Arena in Brockton. John Leahy and Sean Walsh, a fellow CSB student, were at the microphones. They used stick mikes that night. Stoughton took on Dover-Sherborn and won 7-0 as Sadique Hassan had a hat trick. Hockey aired alone for the first season and then in subsequent seasons Boys Basketball followed (1996), followed by Football (1997) and then Girls Basketball in 2000. Over the years Stoughton Cable 9 has covered MIAA tournament action from all around the state.

Here is a list of some of the non Hockomock League post season venues Stoughton Cable 9 has broadcast from:
Boys Basketball: O'Bryant H.S., Roxbury; Dartmouth H.S., Dartmouth; Duxbury H.S., Duxbury; Silver Lake Regional H.S., Kingston.
Girls Basketball: UMass Boston; Massasoit Community College, Brockton; Bishop Feehan HS, Attleboro.
Ice Hockey: Northeastern University (Matthews Arena); Bridgewater Ice Arena; Ryan Arena, Watertown; Asiaf Arena, Brockton
