IncWell Digital Media Group, Ltd が、SuperCard 技術を Allegiant ょり買い取ることになりそうであるとの情報が入ってきました。以下の同社社長による公開メールを御覧ください。下記の同社へのリンクで IncWell DMG, Ltd. という会社について調べてみたところ、 WWW に Roadster を使用してアメリカやカナダの小中学校に教育用のコンテンツを作成している会社のようです。同社は、"Spectrum Family Internet Magazine" という子供向けの Roadster プログラムを制作しています。ちなみに "Spectrum" は数年前にアリゾナ近辺に在住する５人の教師が始めたギッズ・ウェブサイトだそうです。
この会社が、果たして SuperCard を引き継ぐ技術を持っているのか、どうか、気になるところですが、人員も含めた買収ならば、期待ができそうですね。特に 0S 8 に向けたアップグレードと、Roadster によるクロスプラットフォームの実現など、これまで一番期待されていたことをしっかりと目標に掲げている点が好感を持ちます。
ただし、まだ、Allegiant のサイトにも、また、この IncWell のサイトでもこの件に関するコメントは掲載されていないようなので、注意して見守る必要があります。

The Death of SuperCard?
IncWell Digital Media Group, Ltd. is excited about the opportunities and challenges presented by the acquisition of the SuperCard family of products. This agreement is to become final on June 4th. Rest assured, we are committed to the expansion of the SuperCard user-base. In turn, this expansion will broaden your potential markets for SuperCard authored products.
Immediate tasks include:
1) SuperCard update for MacOS 8+. (We need to position SuperCard to take advantage of the possibilities of the new operating system and QuickTime 3.0)
2) Solidify cross-platform compatibility through Roadster. (Even the current beta version of Roadster outshines JAVA in the ease of scripting and cross-platform interactivity. Check out http://www.incwell.com . Roadster must support new browsers as they are released and expand its feature set to fulfill its promise.)
3) Study future paths. (We want to be sure that SuperCard empowers as many computer users as possible.)
We are now entering the transition period and there are many things to do to insure SuperCard's future. More information will be forthcoming.
