2006 Hop in the 'Hood — Sunday, July 9th
Hundreds of HillQuest fans filled Seventh Avenue between Robinson and Pennsylvania for the 4th annual block party and inaugural Flower Power Parade!

   

San Diego Floral Association will be celebrating their centennial i...
...but in 2006 they were part of the HillQuest block party.
The dancers were hopping...
...then the Flower Power Parade began...
Complete with the queen of the boogie woogie, Sue Palmer!
The crowd had a wonderful time...
Pia did a super job with the flower awards...
...while other neighbors reconnected.
Mr Handyman was there with a great entry.
...and tropical queens
all the way from La Costa
with Philly, too!
The Lily Pad Store won third place.
All the entries were quite outstanding!
Holly’s pet grooming entry was muy cute!
...and we loved their bubbles and mini-pups.
Oh-so-colorful Aunt Tilly was there, too!
OB’s Botany for Kids entry was a beauty.
There were SO MANY outstanding floats.
All adorned with live plants and flowers.
They amazed us while entertaining the crowd.
...and they had a good time, too!
Pieces, April West and Sue Palmer performed a Ray Charles review.
SD Floral Assocation folks threw beads!!
Balance Point Massage made everyone even more happy...and relaxed!
Artist Janelle Carter and friends added to Sunday’s ambience.
Then Paul Alvarado rocked the block with D.A. and the Hitmen...
...taking the stage for the third fabulous year.
Laura Jane was the mistress of ceremonies — and Ms. Mist-er!
...but who would take first prize? The competition was tough!
The dancers had fun while the judges deliberated...
...and deliberated.
Would Jakob and Boogie Woogie Sue take the big trophy?
Tropical Queens won second place. Congrats to Woody, Richard and Mike!
...and San Diego Floral Association won the first prize! Congratula...
Then we served two kinds of City Deli cake and Mariposa homemade ic...

Danielle Lo Presti and the Masses rocked the hop!
It was her first (but not her last) Hop in the ’Hood peformance.
...and a good time was had by all!
