Ten years before the beginning of Rock and Roll the stage was already set up. It had been built by a culture that incorporated deep racial resentments, but also cultural exchange ignoring any racial and social barriers. Since the end of the American Civil War a common pool of music emerged, that was first introduced to a broader public with the arrival of Blue Music in 1920. Though much of the music pool was lost in the course of streamling it first into recorded music, and later for radio, bits of it can still be traced in almost every part of our modern pop culture. Rock'nRoll tunes were around long before the term was coined, and many Rock artists of the 60ies and 70ies would refer to the long forgotten originals. And even Rap and Hip Hop enjoyed an existance long before they entered the Hoods.
The list of the artist portayed here is by no ways complete and will be expanded in the near future....
