 b. Henry Queen,  3 November 1952,  Jackson County,  North Carolina,  USA.  One of eight children from a musical / farming family,  Queen grew up in a natural music enviroment;  his mother,  Mary Jane,  with a vast knowledge of early British ballads and banjo folk songs, and his father,  Claude, an accomplished  mountain banjo and guitar player, led the family in the singing of old time mountain music, and instilled this musical passion and talent in their offspring .  

Henry plays music throughout the Eastern USA , learning different styles and techniques in his travels, yet always keeping a close connection with his mountain heritage and traditional music upbringing. In addition to local performances and festivals, Henry works closely with the Arts Council, NCCAT, WCU, and the Community Colleges, as well as the public school system in the state of North Carolina.

Henry Queen is an extrarodinary music performer who never fails to capture the admiration  and affection of his audience. Henry's concerts are filled with traditional mountain ballads, hot flatpicking and finger style guitar music mixed with energetic mountain banjo styles which include clawhammer, two finger and bluegrass combinations. Henry Queen is truely a multi- talented natural music maker of versatility and distinction.
