Anton Bruckner Choir (ABC)
Anton Bruckner Choir was founded by Christopher Dawe in 1995, and is now established as one of London's top amateur chamber choirs.  The choir numbers between 35 for smaller scale concerts and up to 50 for the larger scale works.  Our repertoire is wide, including the major works for chamber choir but also larger scale choral works.  Recent highlights have been the Monteverdi Vespers with the English Cornet and Sackbut Ensemble in 2002, and Bach's Mass in B Minor in March 2004.  The music of Anton Bruckner features regularly in our programmes, and the name of the choir reflects our belief in producing a full, but beautiful sound, without the sometimes rather mannered choral habits of some other chamber choirs!

Membership
Membership is drawn from the best chamber choirs and symphony choruses across the capital, including a number of music students.  As rehearsal time is highly focused, members are expected to be experienced singers with good sightreading skills and to commit fully to rehearsals.   A small subcription is payable per concert - although this is waived for students and those who are unwaged.

Rehearsals and Performances

Unlike most choirs ABC does not meet on a weekly basis but rehearsals are grouped closely around performance dates to create an intensive, more professional, rehearsal period.  Rehearsals are usually on Fridays and Saturdays. This arrangement is ideal for singers with busy professional lives or family commitments.  Weekday rehearsals tend to be in Central London - while weekend rehearsals are in South West London (Parsons Green or Fulham). Concerts take place in the major choral venues in London (St Giles Cripplegate, Temple Church, St Clement Danes), and for the larger scale works we are joined by professional orchestra and soloists.   In 2005 we made our debut at St Johns Smith Square in a programme of Handel's Dixit Dominus and Mozart Mass in C Minor.

Joining ABC
New members are expected to be a high standard, with excellent sightreading skills.  Application is by CV and/or audition.  New members will be invited to sing for a trial concert.  Please contact Christopher Dawe at ChrisDawe@AntonBrucknerChoir.Org if you are interested.
