Probably your first and biggest question is..."Why is this site hosted on .Mac and not on the servers at Ibaraki University?" ... Right?
Well...it's kind-of a long story...and I can't really tell it without degenerating eventually into a ranting and raving madman, rolling on the floor and foaming at the mouth...which makes it a bit difficult to keep typing!
Let's just say this: We faculty in the Humanities
Department aren't
given direct access to the homepage directories on the uni server, so we can't
update content without getting the files to someone with access—either
sending them by email or handing them over on physical storage media. To
me that's too much of a restriction...it's unacceptable. Since I already
had an account with .Mac and iDisk storage, I decided to host this site here,
with
a link from my name on
the department server
(third one down on the left, bottom of the list, for those of you who are
Kanji-Kana-challenged. At some point some time ago, my name disappeared
from the list following an update. After I complained it reappeared, in English
now).
So there you have it...the calm, restrained version. (Wow, I'm only drooling just a little!)
Finally, I have also set up another off-campus site (ibadairon.net) for hosting various materials and activities for the students in my classes.
Feel free to contact me regarding this site at either my uni email address (user name, rjcraig) or at ibadairon at mac period com dot ... I mean, period.
(By the way, don't send as is from those mail links: They're rigged to screw with spam bots!)
